Work Text:
Aguero was kidnapped.
Their beautiful, cunning Aguero was abducted by a weird-looking creature.
It sounds...unreal. Except it happened right before their eyes.
And now they’re losing their minds because no, no, no! Aguero is mine [ours]!
Bam kept on clenching his fists, tears slowly falling down his cheeks like a waterfall, golden eyes glinting uner the artificial light of Aguero’s pristine bedroom.
Viole, on the other hand, remains seated on the floor beside the bed, his fringe covering his golden orbs, teeth gritting in anger.
They can’t take Aguero away from them, Aguero is theirs, HOW DARE THEY?!
The twins then stared at each other, a silent vow to follow their blue-haired beloved forming as they contemplated their situation.
———————————————————
Bam and Viole met Aguero when the blunette was born. They were at least a few years older at the time, and was tethered to the ornately-crafted bed because of the curse Jahad left on them. They were invisible to others except for the bed’s owner which just happened to be the young Aguero.
The spell that bound them to the bed proved to be a blessing and a disability at the same time. They were thankful that it led them to the smart and beautiful son of Eduan, but it limits the move and actions they can do. No matter what they did, they can only move within the circumference of the bed.
(“Stupid curse,” Viole bemoaned when he tried to accompany Aguero during one of his fishing trips, “trying to separate me from my Aguero.”)
Even so, they never complained about their situation. Why would they whine about something as petty as that when they have Aguero as a companion? Aguero whose pretty blue locks shimmer like the softest silk, Aguero whose eyes are as blue as the suspendium earrings he was once gifted with that glows warmly whenever they hug him, Aguero whose voice soothes them to sleep in his slender arms, Aguero who comforts them, sings them songs, tells them stories, feeds them food, plays with them, teaches them everything he knows, and allows them to give him hugs and kisses.
(“Aguero is the best!” Bam once exclaimed while playing with the blunette’s hair, Viole on Aguero’s other side clutching his fingers with both of his hands.)
As long as they can stay with Aguero, they’ll accept any hex or curse bestowed on them.
(“You shouldn’t let yourselves be hurt because of me. Don’t do it, okay? Don’t worry, I’d stop you if it ever happens.” Aguero berated the twins when he learned of this fact.)
That being said, they still feel helpless whenever Aguero is called upon by his family. The twins know that Aguero doesn’t like his family. Aguero told them that their family might be the largest in the whole tower. The twins didn’t understand what could be so wrong about that until one day, Aguero came back from a “family game” covered in blood, his once-shining cobalt eyes dimmer in comparison. He was holding a sharp, silver knife and various gems and accessories that he hid within a heavy-looking box under the bed, the key he entrusted to the twins to look over.
Since then, Bam and Viole disliked Aguero’s family that made him risk his life for stupid things like the “family’s pride and honor” Aguero’s mother preaches to Aguero about with her cold, emotionless voice, or the blue bandana that would mark Aguero as an official member of the Khun family.
Aside from Aguero’s mother, the only Khun they knew was Aguero’s little sister Kiseia. She didn’t like Aguero that much, seeing as she would always threaten Aguero with knives before telling him what she wanted to say.
The first time it happened, Aguero was chatting with the twins about the importance of maintaining a person’s appearance when a blue-haired young girl knocked on the oak door and entered. She sauntered towards them and before they knew it, a sharp knife was being pressed against Aguero’s throat. Bam and Viole tensed up, before they both got into action, Viole kicking the knife away from Aguero and Bam pushing Aguero behind him, shielding him from other sudden dangers. The blue-haired girl gasped, not knowing what actually happened to make her dagger fly out of her grasp and onto the floor.
“W-what? What the hell happened, brother?”
Aguero just sighed, before putting on the nonchalant mask he always have on whenever he was near any of his family members.
“Is it really that surprising for me to incapacitate you? I’m older and have more experience than you. Don’t be so flabbergasted by such a simple thing.” Aguero said, before crouching down to take the knife and handing it back to his sister.
“Now, what do you need?”
————————————————————
They’ve heard people describe Aguero as cold-hearted and ruthless, unrelenting in his schemes if it got him what he wanted. The twins believe those people are blind or numb, for their Aguero is the epitome of warmth and kindness, of comfort and love. Their Aguero is smart and cunning, in order to protect his loved ones. Their Aguero exudes cold in order to keep those he cares for safe.
The twins knows this best, having experienced it beforehand, and are afraid that if somebody else saw the brilliance and warmth of their beloved Aguero, they’d try to take him away from them.
So when their Aguero met a silver-haired beauty, another half-sister of his named Maria who wanted to be a Princess of Jahad, they knew their fears has come to life.
Every day, their Aguero would talk about Maria, who kept on pestering him to help her become a princess. Bam would listen to him talk, but his golden orbs would shimmer with unshed tears. Viole would sit in the headboard of the bed, not focusing on the words but the soft baritone of Aguero’s voice.
“Do...you two not like it when...I talk about Maria?” Aguero asked one rainy afternoon, while smoothing out the tangles out of Viole’s long, dark hair. Bam’s eyes widened before suddenly fixing the floor with a heated stare. The other twin just shrugged, which made the blunette chuckle.
“I decided not to help Maria. I know I’d be kicked out of the family if I helped her. I believe she’d be deserving of the title, but if it means leaving the two of you then I’d rather not.”
The twins slowly turned to look at him, unadulterated joy shining in their golden eyes. They jumped on the giggling blunette and hugged him, peppering his face with wet, butterfly kisses.
That day is one of the best days of their lives for the trio, the first being the ay when they all met.
————————————————————
And then it happened.
A weird-looking creature with a head like a rabbit’s and a strange-looking staff in hand took their Aguero away.
Only weeks has passed since Aguero’s sister was given the title as Princess of Jahad, effectively cutting any ties and disposing any rumors or scandals that Aguero has a relationship with Maria. He was hailed as one of the best children of the family and the smartest strategist.
“Everytime I go out, people will hide because they fear I’d know their weaknesses with a single glance and exploit them. If that’s true it’d be really boring then.” Aguero mused, but the twins knew that he was feeling cnflicted about the situation. Aguero might pretend to enjoy his newfound attention and authority, but they knew he was feeling slightly guilty about the fact that he used Maria.
(This in turn made the twins guilty, not beacuse they were the reason Aguero abandoned the silver-haired lady, but because they were blissful about the fact that Aguero cared—loved them so much he’d leave another person-his own half-sister in this case—for them.)
Aguero’s mother, who showered him with praises for the help he provided in order to make his sister a Princess, knocked frantically on the door, calling out her son’s name, that woke up the twins from their deep slumber. Aguero was already awake and was styling his hair when it happened. He immediately kissed the twin’s forehead before opening the door where his mother immediately took his cheeks in her hands and praised him before commanding him to pack his things.
“Pack my things? Why?! Are you kicking me out?!” Aguero asked, trying to figure out what might have happened to make his mother kick him out.
Wait—
Could it be...
Because he stole the Manbarondenna from his father’s treasure room?
That’s impossible! His asshole of a sperm donor wasn’t at this floor at the moment because of some business in the middle part of the tower. He wouldn’t know about the theft for at least a year or so, since he just stole it yesterday.
It wouldn’t be traced to him either since he incapacitated the security system, making it so that he wouldn’t be accused of the thievery that happened.
Besides, the thing was accumulating dust already! The old man probably doesn’t even care about it.
“-ero? Aguero!” His mother’s voice increased in decibels that made the blunette focus once more on the conversation.
“Pack your things quickly! Oh, I’m so very proud of you, my dear! You’re going to climb the tower even before your sister! Remem-,” She was cut off by a pale, white hand tapping her shoulder.
The creature behind her showed itself to them, staring at Aguero with a creepy grin that made the twins want to hide their beloved Aguero behind them.
“Khun Aguero Agnis, you are invited to climb the tower. Everything you desire is at the top.”
The creature extended a hand to Aguero, beckoning him to take it, “My name is Headon, I am the first Guardian of the Tower, and its Caretaker. I sincerely welcome you to the tower, Child.”
Aguero stared at the outstretched hand , “What will you do if I told you I don’t want to climb the tower?”
“You wouldn’t mind me destroying your bed, would you?”
A gasp left the twins and they turned to Aguero, hugging each of his arms as they glared at the strange creature threatening them.
Aguero stiffened, before he reluctantly shrugged the twins off, and glared at Headon.
“I accept the offer, but can you give me a moment to pack my things?”
Aguero was only able to clutch the handle of the Manbarondenna before the smirking Administrator clutched his wrist and disappeared, leaving the bewildered twins behind.
———————————————————
Aguero stared forlornly at the huge field he was brought to, before his icy blue gaze turned to the Manbarondenna in his grasp.
‘Bam...Viole...I’m sorry. I might not be able to meet you two again. Maybe this is a sign that we have different fates’.
———————————————————
Bam stared at his hands in wonder as he and his brother wandered about the Khun estate. It has been 1 hour, 09 minutes and 25 seconds since their Aguero was abducted. Viole kept on searching the corridors for an exit, a needle that they took from one of the rooms in his hands. Bam tried to stop his twin from stealing the weapon earlier, but stopped when Viole said that they can use it to protect Aguero when they meet him again.
They were about to round another corner when they suddenly fell into a hole in the ground that mysteriously appeared out of nowhere.
Strangely, the place was well-lit with torches blazing brightly along the hallway. The brothers glanced at each other and nodded, before racing down the dusty path towards a gigantic gate that was waiting for them at the end.
“This is so huge! How do we open it? Will we meet Aguero there?” Bam questioned aloud to no one in particular, just excited at the thought that Aguero is waiting for them at the end.
Viole stared blankly at his brother, his gaze then straying towards the looming gate in front of them.
“I’m not a Guide, but maybe he’s really waiting for us there.”
The twins tried everything they can to open the door but it won’t budge no matter what they do. The frustration of not being able to open the gate coupled with the anxiety and fear of not being able to meet Aguero again and the anger that someone would try to take Aguero away from them when it was clearly against his will was enough to drive them mad with the wish to see Aguero once more.
‘Aguero...Aguero...AGUERO!!!’
And with that in mind, the two decided it would be easier if they just destroyed the gate.
Shinsu started to swirl around Bam in turbulent waves, while the needle in Viole’s hand vibrated with power.
A moment after that, the gates were blasted into smithereens and what was left of it is a huge, gaping hole.
[Rest in pieces, you poor gate. I deeply apologize that the twins vented their anger and frustrations on you]
————————————————————
Headon stared unamusedly at the gates that disappeared with a blast of power from the Irregular twins he was waiting for.
‘What’s up with Irregulars and destruction? Is that really something all of them have in relation?’
———————————————————
Bam was the first one to notice the weird-looking creature who introduced himself as Headon.
But Viole was faster, and without wasting a single second he was facing the Administrator with a tight grip on his neck, golden orbs darkening with fury.
“Where’s Aguero? Where did you take him? Give back Aguero!” Viole growled at the dumbfounded guardian of the tower. Bam decided to take his brother’s side and glared at Headon from behind his twin.
“Climb to the top of the tower, the answers are there. Whatever you wish for you will find there.” The administrator answered, wary eyes gazing back at the twins whose eyes were filled with pure determination.
“Will we find Aguero?”
“Take the test to find out, Irregulars.”
————————————————————
The twins prepared themselves to take the tests when they felt a presence hurtling at them with rapid speed, and they both ducked in time.
The presence turned out to be a tall, black-haired girl who introduced herself as Yuri Ha, one of the princesses of Jahad.
She was accompanied by a gray-haired man called Evan Edrok, who was guiding her through the tower. They kept on bickering in a strange language Bam and Viole couldn’t understand, and when they finally noticed their confusion, the princess decided to give them an opaque orb she called a “Pocket” which would allow them to understand each other.
After acquiring the pocket, the twins realized that Yuri and Evan were bargaining with Headon, in order to give them a much more...merciful test because the one given to them is too difficult for them to handle.
At this Bam smiled, “Don’t worry, Miss Yuri. We won’t get hurt. We don’t want to worry Aguero.”
Viole just nodded, already facing the challenge awaiting them. They were tasked to pop a ball while trying to avoid getting killed by a starving, giant eel that came from the 15th floor.
Yuri and Evan tried to stop them and offer them weapons but it was too late. The twins have began the test.
“I won’t worry about them, Princess Yuri Jahad. They will climb up the tower.” Headon claimed while pointing at the gaping hole where the gates once were.
“They gave me another problem to fix. A huge one at that. Youth these days...”
————————————————————
Viole decided to take on the eel while his brother Bam take on the ball.
As soon as the giant eel opened its enormous mouth, the younger twin jumped inside. Moments later, the eel was sliced into pieces, its guts spilling everywhere.
Viole gave a small smile towards his brother who gave him a thumbs-up before facing the ball, face scrunching in determination.
Bam opened his hands, palms near the balls surface, feeling the shinsu inside the ball. With a single flick of a finger, the ball exploded.
The twins grinned as a shimmering light enveloped them, before they turned to the two people who tried to help them.
“Thank you very much, Miss Yuri! Mister Evan!”
‘Soon. We’ll see Aguero again. Then we’d all stay together.’
————————————————————
The Caretaker of the Tower sighed as his guests left him with a massive problem to fix. He glanced at the obliterated entrance and smirked, stroking his chin in thought.
“So the curse was broken, huh? I knew he wouldn’t be able to hold them back for long, but it only took a few years for them to break it. But this will cause implications...After all, they are no longer tethered to an inanimate object, but to a person dearly beloved who loves them as deeply. And to think both of them fell in love with the same person.”
After several minutes of shinsu covering the entrance, another gate was created.
“Fate must have something in store for those youngsters.”
————————————————————
Bam and Viole blinked a few times after the shimmering light disappeared, not used to being under direct sunlight. Not that it was real anyway. After all, Aguero said that the heavens they see are a shinsu imitation of the real deal.
(“Aguero is smart, so it is true.” Viole muttered after Aguero told them about the shinsu skies. Bam nodded along happily and exclaimed, “Aguero won’t lie to us that’s why it’s true!,”)
They were transported to a wheat field, and they can feel the presence of many other examinees around them. Above them is a giant cube-like thing Aguero calls a lighthouse that can store lots of data and information that can be important when climbing the tower.
‘It would suit Aguero. He loves taking control after all.’
Suddenly, a buzzing noise emanated from the lighthouse, ordering them to lower the population to 200. Seconds after this announcement, the other examinees began to fight.
Bam took Viole’s wrist and started to run to the opposite direction, trying to find refuge. They don’t want to hurt other people, and they need to find Aguero. Their Aguero comes first before anything.
They stopped when they saw a giant creature with eyes around its head. They figured out that it is part of the Da-an Tribe and it wouldn’t hurt them.
They were about to take a seat when a familiar presence stopped near them.
“B-Bam? V-Viole?”
The twin’s golden eyes widened in surprise and they turned to look at the person who called to them with such a soft voice.
“Aguero?”
The blunette dropped the brown, leather bag he was clutching and hugged the twins who clutched at him tightly with tears falling down their eyes, laughing as they did so.
“Aguero...Aguero’s here. Aguero’s safe.” Bam repeated like a mantra, gaze laser-focused on Aguero’s every move.
Aguero chuckled and kissed their foreheads, before smiling so sweetly.
“I’m not going to leave you. I’ll follow both of you to the ends of the world if I need to.”
Both siblings flushed as red as a tomato at those words, their joyful gazes never leaving their beloved.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
