Work Text:
Teruhashi’s breathing is the first thing he hears, her face as always, is framed beautifully in the morning sun of a new day. Her cheek rested against the pillow, and his arm trapped under it.
It’s quiet, he can see the glint of his germanium ring from the hand placed softly upon her waist. Her own arms draped around him. It was the quiet he cherished, the quiet he yearned.
Kusuo didn’t know when things had changed, there wasn’t a moment that he could pin-point exactly where he started to not mind her presence, sometimes he had even welcomed it, wanted it.
It was a slow burning process, like a wick that never faded despite everything, despite all his efforts to blow it out. There were times he thought of pinching that flame between his fingers, let the smoke finally give way, but he could never do it, like his heart had stopped him, made him hesitate.
Now here he is, waiting for her.
He twists the ring with his thumb, smiling a little at the memory of when he denied such things possible. He smiles more at the other ring along side it. With a gentle yawn, Teruhashi’s eyelids flutter open. Her eyes still glossy with a morning haze, and gently she rubs them. Saiki watches on, before eventually she clears her sight, and their eyes meet. Almost immediately, her lips grow to a delicate smile.
He returns it, “Hey.”
“Hey to you too.” She giggles, burying her face in the crook of his neck. He can feel her breath, her skin, and everything of her. It makes his chest feel warm.
He huffs, wrapping her more in his arms, holding the back of her head. He squints at the rays hitting his eyes.
“It’s Saturday, we don’t have anything to do today.” He says, and Teruhashi hums in acknowledgment.
They stay silent for a little, before Teruhashi says something to break it. “Do you want to do anything today?” She whispers almost, still snuggled beside him, where their skin touches and her lips are pressing against his collarbone.
Saiki thinks, shaking his head internally at the ideas that pop up in his mind.
“Not really.”
“Well, I guess we can just stay like this.” Teruhashi shuffles even closer, creeping her head up so she’s eye to eye with Saiki again. Her face is impossibly close, and then her lips are on his cheek, pecking him with a chaste little kiss.
Saiki stiffens but eases, rolling his eyes in amusement as Teruhashi’s shoulder jump along with her chuckles. Her eyes crescent moons, her cheeks pink. His must be the same.
How troublesome.
Saiki leans in himself, surprising her. He turns his head, so he can meet her lips. He can’t ignore the way she feels like velvet, like cotton candy. The finest silk and the softest sweetness.
“Kusuo…” She says, their lips now apart, her cheeks redder “Not fair, you cheated.”
“Hm, How?”
“I just pecked you, but your kiss almost made my heart explode.” She punches his chest lightly, it doesn’t hurt him at all.
“Sorry.” He replies halfheartedly, smirking.
and I’ll do it again, he thinks.
