Work Text:
It was another day for the band. Another party, another rehearsal, another night. Freddy couldn't place it, but he felt…empty.
After Monty had disappeared- well the mechanics told him that Monty was scrapped.
Freddy couldn't help but just shut off. Not physically, (he did actually shut off in front of the mechanics when heard the news of Monty, causing a small freak out) but mentally.
Now he wasn't going to lie, he did however find joy with spending time with his friends, and his new friend, and the kids. But it just didn't feel right. It... didn't feel as nice or as complete? He couldn't put it into words, but days just passed and Freddy always wishes for the day to end.
He would sometimes feel too drained, even with a full battery and even his friends were starting to worry, but backed off immediately when he snapped at them (To which he had apologized many times, even when his band members forgave him, he would apologize at random times).
Maybe because this felt too familiar.
Just like Bonnie.
Both animatronics that Freddy had gotten close to, that gave him these weird feelings, are gone.
Is that why he's feeling this way? Because he lost Bonnie, and now he lost Monty?
Freddy sighs and slowly walks out of the room, seeing that he's the only one in the rehearsal room.
Wait, is rehearsal already over? How long was he out, why didn't anyone tell him? Well-they probably did... maybe.
Freddy groans at himself. Get it together Fazbear. You're starting to slack behind.
He was cut off from scolding himself when he hears something from the corner. He slowly, and quietly (well as quiet as he can) looks over and sees a small boy.
Wait, what was a kid doing here? It was already closing time. And hey…does that kid look familiar?
Freddy watches as the boy looks around and dashes from cardboard to cardboard, before he enters a room that leads to the utility tunnels. Freddy waited and then followed.
He sees the kid way far ahead, and just as he was about to call out he sees someone step out of the shadows. Causing the bear to step back, startled by the sudden appearance that he hadn't noticed before.
"Hey kid, ya' got what you need?" a rough grunt loudly whispers, but what caught the bear's attention was the accent.
The boy, (Oh dear, what was his name?) nods his head, a smile on his face, "Yep, I'm good for maybe a couple weeks," the taller stranger whos face was covered in a hood, brings their hands into their pockets of their sweatpants.
"Ya sure, rockstar? We can jus' place some of it into my stomach hatch and ya can get more," it then clicked.
Gregory and Montgomery.
But, how? The mechanics told him that he was scrapped.
Before Freddy can think too deep into his thoughts, Gregory speaks again.
"I'm good, Monty, let's go, I remember why I don't like this place during closing time," Monty chuckles lowly and the duo start walking away from Freddy's sight. Freddy snaps out of his daze and begins following them, clearly not in his right mind.
But he clearly wanted answers.
The duo make their way to the emergency exit and quickly duck out. Freddy halts at the door.
Is he allowed to leave the premises? He already broke a rule, would he be scrapped if he broke more?
Well, rules be damned.
Freddy opens the door and is met with darkness, his ears flinch when in the distance he can hear cars honking, people walking and some chattering.
He ignores it though when he opens it further and sees himself in an alleyway. He looks around and spots the duo hiding behind a trash can, but doesn't seem to pay any mind to the bear.
"Okay, maybe if we go here, we can-" Monty shakes his head, "No, kid, we can't go there, s'blocked off, even for me," Gregory groans as he scribbles something down. Freddy walks closer to the duo, and he couldn't help but grab Monty, scaring the living shit out of the two and hugging him tight. It has been too long and as been said before, he isn't in his right mind.
"What the- Shit- Gregory run!" Monty growls as he lashes out and tries snapping at the intruder's face. His arms were stuck and he couldn't move them, so tearing the intruder was off the table. But he wasn't going down without a fight.
Monty wraps his tail around Freddy's legs and tightens it, making the bear fall down and loosen his grip. Monty takes a hold of the open opportunity and wriggles one of his arms free and slashes at the bear's arm.
Freddy let's go and quickly pulls his ripped casing close to his chest. Seeing the wires poking out and oil starting to spill, but that didn't seem to bother the bear.
Monty quickly turns around, snarling, ready to strike, but stops when he meets those lightning blue eyes staring straight at his ruby red ones.
"Freddy?"
"Monty!"
Monty looks confused until he's engulfed into a warm embrace by the big bear. "Monty, oh dear, it's been so long since I last saw you, rockstar!" Freddy doesn't catch himself in time by saying Monty's past catchphrase.
"Rockstar?" Freddy's ears perked up, and both animatronics don't move.
"Monty!? Are you okay?" The duo looked towards the boy who was running towards him. Seemed he didn't listen to the gator and just hid.
"Gregory! What the hell? What did ah say about listenin' to my orders?" Monty shouts, causing the boy to slow down and roll his eyes.
"Well, sorry mom, but I didn't want to just run when I could help, damn," Freddy stands up straighter hearing the child curse, "Language!" Both Gregory and Monty look at the bear and then at eachother and laugh.
"What? Is there a joke I'm missing?" Freddy asks as the gator and the bear let go of each other and stand up, dusting themselves off.
"No, no, s'jus', ah told em' about you guys-"
"Mostly about you, he doesn't ever shut up when he talks about you-"
"AN'- Ah'm jus' glad ya haven' changed teddy bear," Monty interrupted the boy but quickly gives the bear his full attention, his voice that makes Freddy's legs want to give out, and his fans want to bust. (combust hah)
Freddy and Monty glance at the other, their eyes interlocking, as they stare at each other, soft gazes of want and longing, but just pure happiness of seeing the other.
"Bleh! If you guys are gonna kiss, do it when I'm not looking!" Gregory exclaimed as he covered his eyes with his hands and turned around, facing his back to the flustered animatronics, "And no noises!"
Monty shakes his head as he rolls his eyes. He looks over to Freddy, who was still staring at the kid, guilt in his eyes.
"Fred', s'alright man, he already forgave ya'll. He knew that you guys were under some kind of virus, s'why we always come back 'ere," Freddy turns his attention to the gator, his ears still laid on his head, "Are you sure Monty? No child should have ever gone through that, especially when we're supposed to protect and entertain children, not harm them-"
"It's okay, Freddy! Just like what Monty said, I know you guys weren't really there to harm me, especially since Monty talked so highly of you guys," Monty sputters as he looks away from Freddy, who perks up just lightly, his cute ears wiggling happily.
"And besides, I can never be mad at my favorite animatronic!" Gregory yells still faced away from them, this perks Monty up, his face showing clear betrayal, "Ay! Yah said ah was your favorite!"
"Was!" Gregory laughs as he looks back at the gator, sticking out his tongue and Freddy couldn't help but snicker.
Before the gator could throw his hissy fit, Freddy bumps his nose onto the gator's cheek, signifying a kiss.
The gator's growls turned into purrs as quickly as he forgets about Gregory's statements and he turns to Freddy and places small pecks onto the bear's face, then landing one more on his lips. The bear stiffened at the sudden affection. His tail and ears wiggled happily.
Gregory groans in disgust and quickly turns back around, complaining about how they didn't give him any warnings.
But the bear-gator duo didn't care as they smiled happily at each other. Loving and caring gazes can be seen from their optics.
That empty feeling that Freddy had felt for many months was now filled and he couldn't be any happier.
