Every time Tanjirou wakes up his belly looks bigger than the night before, but he doesn't mind, he actually likes it quite a bit. It means his pup is getting stronger and ready to meet their family.
He looks down at the muscled arm around his belly and tries not to chuckle when he makes an attempt to move it out of the way, but the arm stays where it is.
That's when Kyojuro wakes up; Tanjirou knows because his alpha always kisses him on the neck, before moving on the bed to press his lips against his belly a couple of times.
"Good morning, Tanjirou! Good morning, my pup!"
The alpha is over the moon; ever since Tanjirou told him he was pregnant, he's never stopped grinning and kissing his omega all over the face while he tells him how much he loves him. Tanjirou finds it quite endearing, especially when Kyojuro does anything he can to take care of him, the omega doesn't think he needs so much attention, but he appreciates it nonetheless.
"I'll help Senjuro make breakfast!" Kyojuro grins after giving Tanjirou another kiss, although this time is right on the lips.
"Don't you need to train today?" Tanjirou asks, worried that his mate might be wasting too much time on him. "I can help Senjuro myself."
"You need to rest."
"I just woke up, Kyojuro-san, I'll be fine."
"But I want to help you!" This time, his alpha even pouts, prompting Tanjirou to sigh before nodding back at him.
However, when Kyojuro rushes out of the room, Tanjirou gets off the bed (he must admit it's a little bit more difficult now) and puts on some clean clothes before walking outside.
They don't like it when they see him walking around the residence, even Shinjuro throws a concerned look at him to which Tanjirou responds with a reassuring smile.
He takes the alpha's arm and releases a calming scent because he knows he's remembering Ruka and what happened to her.
"I'm fine, I promise," he mumbles. Shinjuro nods, although the concern doesn't vanish from his eyes completely.
Kyojuro and Senjuro are even worse. They're almost done with breakfast and look outraged to see Tanjirou in the kitchen.
"Tanjirou, my love!" His alpha moves like lighting to get closer to him. "Are you alright? Why are you out of bed? I was going to bring you breakfast!"
"There's no need," Tanjirou chuckles before kissing Kyojuro's cheek. "I'm perfectly capable of having breakfast with my family. At the table."
"But Tanjirou..."
"It's alright, Senjuro," Tanjirou assures him, running his fingers through the pup's hair. "I feel really good today."
None of them seem like they believe him, but they relax as soon as everyone starts eating breakfast. There's a lot of food at the table and yet it disappears quickly. Kyojuro has a really good appetite so that's not a surprise, but it seems that the pup inside Tanjirou is going to be just like their father because the omega always feels like he's starving.
He doesn't even notice that Kyojuro is pushing his own full plates in his direction and that he's trying to eat less in order to give Tanjirou more food.
It's too late when he realizes the amount of food he just ate and he blushes while he looks at the empty dishes next to him.
"I'm so sorry!"
"It's alright, Tanjirou!" Kyojuro chuckles, looking less worried now. Even Shinjuro and Senjuro seem more relaxed and happy. "You're eating for two now!"
Tanjirou tries to apologize a second time, but his alpha nuzzles his cheek lovingly in order to calm him down.
"Let's get you back to our room!"
However, Tanjirou shakes his head and takes a step back when Kyojuro tries to lift him.
"I'd like to take a walk around the estate and see Nezuko first."
He knows his alpha worries, but Tanjirou is not going to spend all his day in the same room just because he's pregnant.
Closing his eyes, he enjoys the sunlight on his face as Kyojuro leads him towards the backyard, after a couple of minutes, they head towards Nezuko's room.
It's the only bedroom in the Rengoku residence where the sunlight can't get in. Most of the time the demon girl is asleep, but lately she's been acting weird, waking up as soon as her nostrils get a hint or her brother's scent.
She gets closer to the omega and kneels in front of him to press her ear against Tanjirou's round belly before hummig happily. She signs fast with her hands to which Tanjirou responds with a chuckle and a nod.
"That's what I thought too," he grins, feeling happier.
"What is it, Tanjirou?"
"Nezuko thinks I'll be getting into labor soon," he says calmly, noticing too late the panic on Kyojuro's expression.
"Soon? How soon?"
"Tonight... Maybe tomorrow."
"I'm going to send a message to Shinobu!"
"Wait!" It's too late; Kyojuro has already rushed out of the room. Tanjirou sighs, pats Nezuko's head gently and follows his mate quickly.
He's already back in the living room when he starts feeling the contractions; he takes a couple of slow, deep breaths, trying to hide the pain he feels in order not to alarm anyone else, but Shinjuro sees him and carries him back to the bedroom, ignoring Tanjirou's protests.
The omega is too busy to be surprised by his father-in-law's strength, but he still notices that he lifts him like Tanjirou weights nothing.
Then he quickly forgets about it because the pain comes back in waves, but each time is a little bit stronger than the last.
Senjuro kneels next to the bed to take his hand and clean with a towel the sweat on the omega's forehead.
"It's alright, Tanjirou."
"I know... You don't need to worry."
Kyojuro rushes inside at that moment and starts running his fingers through Tanjirou's hair as the omega bites his bottom lip not to groan in pain.
"My love–"
"I'll be fine, Kyojuro..."
Tanjirou closes his eyes, constantly reminding himself that the butterfly estate is not that far from there; he's visited the girls more than once this week only.
However, it does feel like an eternity when he's in such a predicament.
"Alright, everyone... Get out!"
Tanjirou has never feel so relieved to hear Kocho's sweet and yet angry voice before. The next thing he sees is Aoi's concerned frown and the butterfly girls' uniforms.
Shinjuro and Senjuro rush out of the room quickly, but Kyojuro stays, still nervous.
"Kyojuro..."
"But Shinobu–"
"I'll be fine, Kyojuro-san," Tanjirou promises, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Please do as Kocho-san says."
Reluctantly, the flame hashira exits the room, throwing one worried look at his omega before closing the door behind himself.
Finally, Tanjirou relaxes, but not that much because he feels another wave of contractions at that moment.
"Listen, Tanjirou... Take deep breaths and do everything I ask you to..."

He's exhausted but he forgets about it as soon as he hears his pup cry for the first time.
"I want to hold my pup."
"Please wait a little longer, Tanjirou. Let Aoi clean her first and make sure she's alright."
A baby girl. Tanjirou can't wait to see her, but he nods anyway. Kocho is holding his hand while the girls clean him.
Then, Aoi hands him the most beautiful pup he's ever seen; her hair is just like her father's, but the eyes are like Tanjirou's.
The pup calms down as soon she's in her mommy's arms; Tanjirou nuzzles her little cheek and rubs their noses together.
Kocho gets out of the room and comes back with Kyojuro; his eyes are glimmering with love and devotion already. He kisses Tanjirou before leaning closer to see his pup.
"It's a girl," Tanjirou mumbles and watches as Kyojuro's grin turns impossible wide, there are a couple of happy tears in the corners in his eyes.
Tanjirou hands him the little baby as Shinjuro and Senjuro walk inside.
"You're a grandfather now!" Kyojuro tells Shinjuro and Tanjirou swears the man sobs before nodding at his oldest son.
Senjuro looks a little bit nervous and shy at first, but he approaches the bed when the baby is back in Tanjirou's arms and the omega takes his hand to pull him even closer.
"See? She likes you already!" Tanjirou chuckles, watching happily as the baby wraps his tiny hand around Senjuro's pinky.
Tanjirou can tell they're going to be a very happy family. He can't wait to introduce her to Nezuko.
