Chapter Text
Gojo knew he probably should have listened to Getou during their joint mission against an S-rank scourge whose abilities were unknown. He should have been more careful but in his defense how was he supposed to know that these powers didn't work against this kind of scourge?
It was in the middle of nowhere in Japan, after a blinding light blinded them they were like teleported. They couldn't do anything about it, they didn't have time to dodge. And even though normally he would have felt no guilt, knowing that he had put Getou in danger filled him with guilt.
Luckily for him they were both safe. Even if Getou was annoying him about it. However he knew he deserved it so he didn't try to defend himself. At one point Getou stopped scolding him and ended up looking around as if it was the first time he discovered the place.
“Satoru what did we say?” I can't believe you did the opposite of what we planned."
“Yeah yeah I know I’m sorry I won’t do it again Mom”
“I don’t even know why I’m trying to reason with you. The most important thing is none of us get hurt. Wait, you weren't hurt, were you?" asked Getou worried
It was new for him to have someone who cared about him and had his back. He had always been alone before, and people didn't care if they got hurt since he was the strongest. For everyone he was the strongest, therefore invulnerable, unbeatable and above all not human. People saw him as either a weapon, a monster or a god or all three at the same time usually. His own family had treated and seen him as a simple human.
No one cared if he was hurt after all he was the strongest, and he could heal himself as many times as he wanted. However Getou cared. He always made sure to ask him if he was okay, and if he wasn't hurt. No matter his inhuman strength that inhabited him. And it never fails to make him feel human and bring up a warm fuzzy feeling inside. He had never experienced this feeling before and he didn't know why he felt it however it wasn't a bad feeling so he didn't care.
But above all Getou made him feel safe, protected which was absurd because he was not born to be protected. It was made to protect and not the other way around. Even though they were the strongest together, he both knew that he was the strongest and that almost nothing could beat him. Despite this, Getou continues to worry about him and try to protect him. He wondered why this knowledge and its protection made him feel so good. Unfortunately even he didn't have the answer to this question. He had considered asking Shoko why he felt that way but after careful consideration he felt like it was too personal.
“No I’m not, as if something so weak could touch me!”
"You must be fine if you're still this arrogant." Do you know where this scourge has sent us, I don’t recognize this place”
“We are still in Japan”
“I mean the city idiot”
“Hey! Should have been clarified! And no, I don’t know what city we are in.”
“Yaga sensei is going to kill us”
“That old crouton can be so loud”
“You shouldn’t call him that and don’t let him hear you call yourself that”
"Like I want to be stuck again."
“And it was because of who we were stuck with the other time? If you had listened to me we wouldn't be here."
"Hey last time it wasn't my fault I just told the principal that he was just an old stuck up noble corrupted to the core who should just try to die faster for everyone's sake"
“Exactly certain truths are not good to say, I don’t know how you could have thought that it was acceptable to say things like that to the principal, to the person who runs our school. You really act like a child sometimes”
“Hey, I remind you that I did it so that they would put us on missions together!"
“I’m sure there was another way to go about it Satoru”
“Hmm”
That too was new to him, someone calling him by his first name. In fact he didn't remember when they started calling each other by their first names. But calling each other by their first name seemed so natural to him. Hearing his first name come out of Getou's mouth seemed so good to him, as if his first name only existed to be called by him.
Everything with Getou was natural, becoming friends, calling each other by their first name, protecting each other, worrying about each other. Even his friendship with Shoko was not so easy, so strong. Getou made him feel things he didn't understand sometimes. He aroused emotions he had never felt before with no one else.
He wanted to know everything about his best friend, every flaw, the things they loved and the things they hated. He wanted to see him smile, make him smile and laugh. And he wanted to protect him even if he was strong.
Even though they were very close, and had let each other see each other in their weakest moments, whispered secrets he wouldn't tell to anyone else late at night, he still yearned to be closer. But at the same time he felt like he was yearning for more but he didn't understand what it was. He was happy with his friendship with Getou but sometimes he got frustrated like it wasn't enough and he didn't understand why he felt that way.
“Stop pouting, it doesn’t suit you”
“I’m not pouting!”
"Threatening the headmaster wasn't your best idea, so what do we do now that we're lost in the middle of nowhere because of a certain idiot?"
Satoru pretended not to hear the insult and replied "We could just ask someone where we are and just take one of your flails to go home."
“Hm, that’s not a bad idea actually."
“Why did you say that I only had bad ideas?"
“Because you only have bad ideas that’s what got us into this mess.” I'll ask politely and you shut up."
They asked an old woman who had a bent back and a kind smile. She even offered them candy, Getou politely refused, however he stopped himself from accepting the candy and took it back from her (snatched it) which earned him a black look from Getou and a mini sermon, however this in worth it.
"I swear you're getting more and more rude as time goes by Satoru."
“You’re just jealous because you don’t have any candy,” Getou said, sticking his tongue out childishly, which earned him an eye roll.
“Yeah, that must be it,” Getou replied sarcastically.
While Getou took out his dragon, and helped him settle on the dragon even if he could have done it alone on the large golden dragon which was just enormous, before taking his turn climbing on it easily in front of him so that his back was to him. He wrapped his arms around his torso so he wouldn't fall like he had so many times before before they took off. He could feel every limb that was in contact with Getou burning, he could almost hear Getou's heart beating and he realized that it was a calming sound. It wasn't the first time they were in this position but it was the first time he felt his limbs burn because he was in contact with Getou's. But to tell the truth, it was a welcome burn, he had the impression that it warmed him from the inside and it was anything but unpleasant. He wanted to bask in this warmth forever and never come out.
He felt calm, relaxed, even his overactive brain seemed to be calmer, so he hesitated before gently resting his head on Getou's broad back. In this position he could hear the soft hum of Getou's heart even better. He could have sworn he could hear his heartbeat accelerating.
Seeing Getou as comfortable as he was in this position humming a tune that he did not recognize, he gently closed his eyes before whispering softly as if not to break the moment “Wake me up when we arrive”
“Hmm Good night Satoru” Suguru whispered softly
And that's how he fell asleep, with the sound of heartbeat, the feeling of Suguru's back against his body, a sweet smell of lavender in his nose with soft hair floating on his face with arms firmly around Getou's waist.
When he arrived he was awakened by a soft voice calling him.
“Satoru come on get up we’re here”
“I’m up."
Waking up they both got off the dragon as it disappeared before heading towards their school. Arriving in front of their school they saw a group of young people in the distance who must have been their age. There was a girl with brown hair, in a jujutsu school uniform and two boys, one with pink hair and another with spiky black hair who looked like he wanted to hang himself.
