Chapter Text
“Seriously, who would believe in this stuff?” You laugh with Sam as you wait for Sebastian and Abigail to come back with the pizza. Since they both lost in a drinking game, they were bearing the punishment of buying everyone more beer and food. “Listen to this bullshit! 'A rare and deadly disease for people with unrequited love, The Hanahaki Disease. Although it only happens in severe cases. Meaning you’d have to be helplessly in love with someone’ “. You show Sam the article and he reads the rest “The disease would then come if your heart could no longer take the unrequited love and it will convince your entire body that the person you love does not reciprocate anything at all? Dude are you sure this isn’t some scam article or something?”. You both joke and laugh about it until the topic changes.
A few minutes pass and Sebastian and Abigail come back. Sebastian sighs at the sight of you and Sam giggling from too much alcohol while Abigail happily sits next to you wanting to join in the fun. “Honestly if this night ends with me having to drag you both home in the middle of the night AGAIN, I’m calling quits on hanging out every Saturday at my room” Sebastian groans as he sits down. Sam whines as he grabs more beer from the plastic Abigail put down. He dramatically pouts at Sebastion. “Come on our dearest Sebby webby pookie bear! You know you could never actually mean that right?”. Everyone laughs and the night continues.
It’s been a good 3 years since you moved to the small Pelican Town. You quickly grew close to the famous (or maybe infamous) trio and Saturday night drinking has become a regular thing for you guys. While you love each of them as your bestest friends, you always had a soft spot for Sebastian. You knew your feelings for him were just a bit more than friendship, but that never really got in the way of anything. Honestly, everything was going good since he also seemed to invite you over more than anyone else. It made you feel like you were also someone a bit more special to him as well.
Abigail checked her phone and sighed, “Crap.. It’s already 1 a.m.? I need to get going guys”. Everyone stood up and Sam stretched while yawning. “Yeah, I think we should get going too, I’m feeling tired. Plus, I feel like we drank waaaay more than we should have”. Sebastian laughed “Well only since you and y/n drank everything while Abby and I were out”. He then offered to walk everyone home as usual. Abigail was the first to be dropped off since she lived the closest. She’d usually go inside after you's say your goodbyes and maybe give each other a few quick hugs, but tonight was different.
“Hey you guys go on first for a bit” Sebastian awkwardly said. Sam shrugged and dragged you by the shoulder laughing, still drunk of course. Confused by Sebastian’s sudden change, you obviously looked back out of curiosity. Although it was dark, you could see Sebastian and Abigail chatting for a bit. Abigail was smiling brightly while Sebastian just had that stupid grin he’d always wear when teasing you. You didn’t want to overthink things, so you took a deep breath while turning back to Sam. The both of you waited by the Saloon, Sam being a bit too drunk trying to do a kickflip with a piece of cardboard you two found. Both of you start giggling when Sebastian pops up behind you. “Alright let’s get going”. He laughs as he walks over to Sam and helps him walk, trying to shush him. What was he talking about with Abigail?
Both you and Sebastian try to at least quietly tuck Sam into his bed. He immediately falls asleep once he lays on his bed which causes you and Sebastian to giggle. Both of you sneak out and finally, it’s just the two of you. Sebastian always walked you home last which gave the both of you time alone together to just talk. This night was no different. Both of you talk and laugh about random topics again but you wanted to ask what he and Abigail were talking about earlier. But you knew him, he would just give a vague answer and move on. Even though you always loved this part of Saturday nights, something just wasn’t feeling right. Your stomach has been hurting since earlier, but you tried your best to keep a straight face. You didn’t even realize you were zoned out until you heard Sebastian. “Well, it looks like we’re here”. You stop and look up seeing your house. You smiled and unlocked the door, looking back at Sebastian and thanking him once again before he left. You headed inside and clenched your stomach. “Shit… did I drink too much or something?”.
You tried to drink water and basically crawled to your bed upstairs. You twist and turn, not only was your stomach pain getting worse, but your throat started itching as well. You checked your phone to see 2:14 a.m. on the screen. You groaned at the pain and started coughing. “Am I getting a fever?” you thought. Sitting up from the bed, you checked the drawer next to you for a thermometer. But before you could even reach out, you started coughing again. Everything hurted and you felt like vomiting. You muster up all your strength to run downstairs to the bathroom. Kneeling in front of the toilet you started gagging and expected to see beer or food come out as vomit as Karma for being a bit more gluttonous tonight than usual. What you didn’t expect was blood… And a petal from a-
“yellow chrysanthemum..?”
