Chapter Text

Jon, a black male teen and main worker at the legendary hall of archive records, was discovering the utter corruption of the world and politics to his concern. He went to discuss it with his best friend, Tanjirou, and his engaged girlfriend Nezuko when they were having dinner at the all you can eat sushi bar.

"I'm telling you two our government is corrupt. We saw how little they deal with the rogue demons and crime rate." said Jon, before grabbing his chopsticks to grab a sushi from the deep bowl.

Tanjirou nodded thoughtfully, his hand pausing over the soy sauce. "It's troubling, for sure. But what can we do about it?"

"I'm thinking about getting into politics." Jon took a bite of his sushi.

Tanjirou's eyes widened in surprise. "Politics? That's a huge step."

Jon looked at his girlfriend. "What do you think?."

Nezuko, a young girl with a heartwarming smile, had been quietly listening to the conversation. She was known for her empathetic nature and her ability to listen without judgment. "Jon, if you truly believe that you can make a difference, then you should pursue it. But it won't be easy," she cautioned, her eyes reflecting the seriousness of the situation.

The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant hummed with the chatter of other patrons, a stark contrast to the gravity of their conversation. Tanjirou placed a gentle hand on Nezuko's shoulder, his expression a mix of admiration for Jon's passion and concern for the path ahead. "Nezuko's right," he said. "But remember, you'll need support. We'll be there for you."

Jon smiled with a nod. "Thank you."

In the coming weeks of getting an appointment to talk to the council, Jon along with Tanjirou and Nezuko went to the single massive round building and entered. The guards stopped them.

"Do you have an appointment?." He said.

"Yes, I do." Jon replied firmly, holding up a small piece of paper with the time and date of their meeting.

He nodded and let Jon in but stopped Tanjirou and Nezuko. "Only the person who applied for an appointment can go further."

"He's my best friend and soon to be brother in law." Tanjirou spoke in upsetness.

The guard's eyes narrowed, but then he nodded. "Very well. But the girl can't come. This isn't a place for a young civilian."

"She is my girlfriend and soon to be wife one day." Jon spoke up. "She is technically my responsibility other than her brother."

The guard hesitated, eyeing Nezuko's engagement ring, which sparkled under the artificial lights of the grand lobby. "Fine," he relented. "But she and your friend must remain silent throughout your meeting with the high council."

Tanjirou nodded solemnly, and the trio proceeded into the elevator that led to the upper levels of the building. They reached the elevator to the room where the government council is in. Once the doors of the elevator opened up, the trio got out and went to the door guarded by two armored guards.

"Wait inside. The council is dealing with someone." He tells them before his partner opens the door.

Entering, they see the room being heavily large and made of dark blue marble. There standing in the back were the four council members that consisted of two men and two women. What stood out was the well detailed carved statues of the legendary Seven Deadly Sins that are in their armors and helmets. Jon, Tanjirou and Nezuko took a seat in the comfortable bench in the back and listened to the current person talking to the council.

"I demand equity for all demons. Not going to continue to see my people suffer in being second class citizens." said Muzan, currently in the center looking at the council in seriousness.

The council members looked at him, their expressions a mix of annoyance and boredom. "Your people, Mr. Muzan, are the very beings that threaten our existence," said one of the women, her voice cold and dismissive.

Muzan, a man with an eerie aura, didn't flinch. "You speak as if you have forgotten your own history. The demons are not inherently evil; we were once humans like you."

The male leader of the council grabbed his gabel. "Until the fear of your kind is still around, it will remain so. Case dismissed."

Muzan's eyes grew dark, and he clenched his fists, his voice low but full of anger when hearing the gabel slammed. "You dare to speak to me like that!."

"Next." said the woman.

Muzan growled and walked away and exited out of the room. Jon got up and went to the center and spoke with confidence.

"Good evening, members of the council." said Jon.

The council members glanced at him with varying levels of curiosity and skepticism. The male leader leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers. "State your business."

Jon took a deep breath, his determination unwavering. "I've come to discuss the state of our nation. The corruption, the neglect of our people, and the inaction against rogue demons."

The female council member on the left leaned forward. "Ah, the young archivist. Tell us, what do you propose to do about these issues?."

"The same thing that the other person says. Equality. I see the demons having to work harshly in the mines to mine coal to keep our homes warm and digging oil to keep our lights on, with little to less pay. Exactly similar to what my best friend and his family and everyone else who is in the low class gets a small minimum wage." said Jon, looking confident.

The council members exchanged glances. "Equality is a lofty goal, young man, but one that requires careful consideration. We have laws in place to maintain order between humans and demons." said the male councilor.

"Yes, but those laws aren't benefiting any sides. Both sides struggle to make ends meet. Have to compromise in shopping for clothes, food, and rent. Equality, in my opinion, should be given to all humans and demons." Jon takes a moment to look at the statue of the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins before looking back at them. "Take the legendary leader of the Deadly Sins, Captain Melodies for an example."

"What about him?." said another man in a lack of interest.

"He fought for what he believed in, and his actions brought peace to all kingdoms for a time. We can learn from his example. He didn't discriminate; he saw the value in all beings. That's what true leadership is about. He too was a demon. A powerful demon, that I might add." Jon's gaze was steadfast, not intimidated by the council's skepticism.

The room grew quiet, and the council members shifted in their seats, the tension palpable. Finally, the male leader spoke up. "Your words are...intriguing. However, the path to equality is not a simple one. There are those who would oppose such a radical change."

"People like you." Jon boldly spoke.

"He is really getting on their asses now." Tanjirou whispers to his sister.

Nezuko nodded slightly, her eyes never leaving Jon. She was proud of him for speaking up for what he believed in, even if it meant challenging those in power.

The male councilor leaned forward, his expression hardening. "You dare accuse us of such things?. We have dedicated our lives to the protection and prosperity of this nation."

"If so, then none of us wouldn't be suffering in paying bills, rent or struggling financially." Jon spoke.

The head councilman grabbed his gabel. "This conversation is over. Case dismissed."

Jon's jaw tightened, but he remained composed. "If that's your decision, I respect it. But I won't stop advocating for change."

Once hearing the gabel slammed the trio left the room where they see Mezun laying up against the marble wall with a smile.

"I overheard your voice of concern." Mezun smirked. "You and I have the same mindset."

Jon raised an eyebrow. "What makes you say that?."

Muzan pushed himself off the wall and approached them. "The fire in your eyes and the conviction in your voice. It reminds me of a real rebel. My name is Muzan Kibutsuji."

Jon shakes his hand. "This is my best friend. Tanjirou."

Muzan nodded to him. "And the lovely young lady is?."

Nezuko stepped forward with a gentle smile. "I'm Nezuko. I'm Jon's girlfriend and betrothed."

Muzan's smile grew wider as he took Nezuko's hand. "A pleasure to meet you both," he said, his grip firm but not overpowering.

From that day forth, Jon and Muzan had begun to hangout and discussed more of the politics. They talked in detail about what they will say in the upcoming community meeting with the council tomorrow. The two were at the back booth in the sushi bar. Nezuko, who was bringing in drinks for them, smiled when seeing her boyfriend working so hard in making equality available to all.

"Here you go, boys." Nezuko set the drinks of fresh cold sweet tea on the table.

Muzan nodded his thanks, his eyes still locked onto Jon's. "Tell me, Jon, what is your ultimate goal in this quest for equality?."

Jon took a moment to gather his thoughts before speaking. "My ultimate goal is to create a world where humans and demons can live together in harmony. Where everyone has access to the same opportunities and resources, and no one is judged based on their race or species."

Muzan's smile remained, but his eyes searched Jon's soul for any hint of doubt or insincerity. "A noble goal indeed," he said after a moment. "But one that will require much sacrifice and struggle. I, on the other hand, have a better solution."

"Which is?." Nezuko asked with her brow raised.

"Getting it by bloody force." Muzan spoke with no joke in sight.

Jon's eyes narrowed. "I don't agree with violence as a means to an end."

"You're too soft, Jon." Muzan spoke before drinking his tea. "You gotta take it or else they will walk all over us."

Jon's jaw clenched. "I believe in peaceful protest and change through understanding. Violence only leads to more suffering."

Muzan chuckled. "Perhaps. But sometimes, the only way to make those in power listen is to show them the consequences of ignoring the voice of the people."

Nezuko leaned in, her gaze intense. "But what happens when that voice turns into a roar that consumes everything in its path?."

Muzan leans in with a facial expression showing evil. "Then let it consume."

Jon took a deep breath. "I can't support that. I want a future where Nezuko and our future kids aren't feared, where everyone doesn't have to work so hard to keep themselves afloat."

Muzan leaned back, his gaze unreadable. "I understand your sentiment, Jon. But you must understand that change rarely comes without a price."

"Uh, Jon, didn't you say that you wanted me to see something at your job?." Nezuko spoke with a wave of her hand.

Jon catches her hint and looks at Muzan. "Sorry to cut our meeting short."

"That's alright." Muzan puts sushi in his mouth. "See you at the meeting."

Jon and Nezuko left the building and walked back home. The two spoke about what just happened back at the sushi bar as Nezuko expresses her concern about Muzan.

"Jon, he is insane." Nezuko wraps her arm around his. "He doesn't have the same vision as you or me and that is handling the issues through peace."

"I know." Jon nodded. "But we can't let his methods cloud our own. We need to show the council and the people that change is possible without resorting to bloodshed."

The next day, the community meeting was packed with both humans and demons alike, all eager to hear the new voice that had sparked whispers of change. The air was electric with tension, as everyone knew the significance of the event. Tanjirou, and Nezuko sat at the front, Jon's heart racing as he prepared to address the assembly. But Muzan stepped in and made his voice heard.

"Here me, council!. Hear me everyone!." Muzan spoke loud and clear. "Society has gone against itself. People like our government who don't value the needs and concerns of the people and demons!."

Everyone watched Muzan speak. The Demons cheered and nodded while the humans were uneasy about what he was saying. Jon has the look of concern and weary with Nezuko holding his hand and Tanjirou crossing his arms.

"I stand before you now and say that I demand to be given the title of the Deadly Sins!. I should receive the title as the next Seven Deadly Sin!." Muzan looks at the council with evil intentions. "If we don't get equality, fairness, and an increased minimum wage, then we will take it by force and bloodshed!."

The room goes silent for a moment, then erupts into chaos. Some demons in the crowd cheer, while others look around nervously. The council members stand, their expressions a mix of shock and outrage. The human attendees look fearful, whispering to each other. Jon got up regardless of Nezuko trying to stop him and went over to stand in the center. He raised both hands up to calm them down.

"What Muzan has pointed out about equality, fairness and increased minimum wage is what our desire is. But getting it by force and taking lives from the innocent isn't the way." Jon spoke and saw everyone taking in his attention.

Muzan crossed his arms and listened to what his friend had to say. Regardless of his anger boiling very high within him. Jon looked at everyone and spoke through his heart.

"The Seven Deadly Sins had indeed fought for our ancestors rights, peace, and prosperity. Yes, they did it by violence. But not by choice. They tried the peaceful way. I believe in what they believed in. Requiring what we are wanting to have must be fought peacefully. Unionize. March in protest. Violence and bloodshed should always and forever be the last and finally resort." said Jon.

His words have moved strongly amongst everyone as they were in awe at how wise and mature Jon is as a teenager is quite astonishing. So astonishing that Jon's mentor, boss, and trusted friend Gowther, was sitting with a proud smile on his face. Little did anyone know that he is the one and only living member of the Seven Deadly Sins, as he stood up and walked over to Jon and spoke.

"You have the heart of a true leader, Jon." Gowther spoke with a gentle tone. "But remember, the path you choose is fraught with challenges and dangers. You must be prepared to face them all."

Jon looked at Gowther with a mix of admiration and determination. "I am, Gowther. For Nezuko, for Tanjirou, and for all those who deserve a fair chance at life."

Gowther looked at the teen proudly before lifting his arm up and spoke loud. "Do you all agree that this young man is worthy of being the next Deadly Sin?."

The crowd of both humans and demons roared with applause, standing up from their seats, showing their support for Jon. The council members looked at each other, their expressions unreadable. Nezuko ran over to him and gave him a kiss on the lips before Jon kissed her back. As for Muzan, he was full of rage at seeing how everyone praises Jon over him. He went to leave in anger while Jon watches him with a feeling of something isn't going to go well after it is over. And how right he was as Muzan has gathered his loyal demons which were many and raged war on humanity.

Chaos and destruction had covered the lands as Tanjirou had signed up to be a Demon Slayer and made Nezuko stay indoors where it was safe. Jon on the other hand was trying to ensure that his mentor is alright. He avoided being spotted and avoiding the destruction of war until spotting the archive building.

Jon dashed into the building, his heart racing. He found his boss, Gowther, surrounded by scrolls and documents, his eyes focused on something with a serious look on his face.

"Gowther, you have to leave. It's not safe anymore." Jon tells him.

"I'm not worried." Gowther looked at his work before adjusting his glasses. "You should be with your woman."

"But what are you doing here?. Why aren't you in some hiding bunker?." Jon was confused and concerned. "Muzan has raged a world war."

Gowther looked up from his work and met Jon's gaze. "This is where the true battle is being fought. Knowledge is power, Jon. If we want to win this war, we must arm ourselves with information and truth. But in your case you need something out of the ordinary."

"I don't understand." Jon is confused.

Gowther closed his book. "Follow me."

Gowther leads Jon to his personal chambers where a trunk is sitting there. He went to unlock it and pulled out a beautiful medium sized artifact that is gold and silver flat metal with a green glowing jewel. Jon looks at it in confusion.

"Do you recall the recorded scrolls of the ancient Vertex of The Sins?." Gowther looked at his pupil.

Jon nodded slowly. "Yes. It is the sole artifact of the Seven Deadly Sins. Anyone that is given the Vertex of The Sins, will become the next Deadly Sin. Unlocking the wielder there inner self of courage, unmatched leadership, unlimited wisdom, and strength. Why do you have it?."

"Because." Gowther smiled. "I waited for centuries looking to find anyone who is deemed worthy of being the next and last member of the Deadly Sins."

"For centuries?." Jon started to think while rubbing his hair. "Then that means... you're one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Which one?."

Gowther chuckled. "The Sin of Lust. But that is a story for another time. Take this, Jon. The Vortex of The Sins is now yours."

"No." Jon shook his head. "No, I can't. I'm not worthy."

"Worthiness is not what is needed here, Jon." Gowther's tone was firm. "It's about the potential for change you hold within you." He placed the artifact into Jon's shaking hands. "The world needs a new leader, one that can unite both humans and demons."

The artifact began to glow as it started to hover in front of Jon to his shock. Next, Jon willingly pulled his shirt down to show his chest to it as the artifact merged right into his chest until it was completely inside of him. Then the energy of sparkle blue started to engulf Jon. His body started to get ripped and buffed and his soft nature turned into warrior nature. Once the energy was gone, Jon stood in seriousness and determination as he walked out to bring the fight to Muzan. Speaking of Muzan, he was standing on a pile of dead Demon Slayers while enjoying the destruction that he had made.

"Master!." One demon bowed to him. "As you requested. We have found and captured the one called Nezuko."

Muzan looked at the girl who was fighting to get her arms free. "Excellent."

"Let me go!." Nezuko demanded before being thrown to the ground.

"Hello, Nezuko." Muzan spoke before dropping down in front of her with an evil smile. "It's great to see you."

Nezuko's eyes widened with fear, her heart racing as she struggled against her bonds. "Jon! Tanjirou!" she screamed out for help.

"Oh, they won't save you, Nezuko." Muzan grabs her by her neck and lifts her off the ground. "Your lover has stolen my moment that day. This is the consequence."

Nezuko's eyes filled with tears of fear and anger. "What are you going to do with me?."

Muzan grinned evilly. "I'll make you an emotional pain to not only your lover but also your brother. I'm going to make you one of us."

Without wasting time he cut his arm with his sharp teeth as his blood was oozing out. He then slams Nezuko to the ground hard and forces her to open her mouth and shoves his bleeding arm into her mouth. Focusing her to drink his essence.

Nezuko's eyes widened in horror as she felt the warm blood filling her mouth. She fought with all her might, her eyes tearing up, as she felt the power of the demon essence trying to consume her. Muzan laughed evilly and so did his loyal minions.

"Muzan!."

Muzan let go of Nezuko after hearing his name being called. He looked up to see Jon walking forward with a look of confidence. "Awe, Jon, how nice of you to see your good friend."

Jon's eyes burned with a mix of anger and determination, the power of the Vortex of The Sins pulsating within him. "Let her go, Muzan. Your fight is with me. Jon Sin. The last member of the Seven Deadly Sins."

Muzan's minions stepped back, giving them space as the air grew tense. The once-friendly mentor now looked at Jon with a twisted smile. "So, you've accepted your fate. I'm impressed. But it's too late for her."

Nezuko coughed, blood trickling down her chin. Her eyes searched for Jon, desperation and fear mixing in her gaze. He could see she was fighting the demonic influence, her human spirit refusing to be tainted but for not long. Jon pulls out his sword and so does Muzan as they charge at each other.

"Tanjirou, take Nezuko and get out of here!. I'll catch up with you!." Jon clashed with Muzan in sword combat.

Tanjirou nodded, sheathing his sword as he rushed over to his sister. He gently picked her up, ignoring the blood and tears. She was barely conscious, but the fierce will to survive still burned in her eyes. He looked at Jon, who nodded solemnly before turning his full attention back to Muzan.

Their swords clashed, sparks flying in the dimly lit room. The sound echoed through the halls of the council building, a stark reminder of the battle that was unfolding. Jon gave Muzan a matched fight that made the demon upset and question.

"Why do you resist me, Jon?. We could have ruled this world together. Humans and demons as equals!." Muzan shouted as he swung his sword.

Jon parried the blow and responded with a swift counterattack. "We can still achieve that. But not through fear and bloodshed. Not like this."

Muzan frowned. "Then you'll die along with your people!."

Their blades danced in a deadly waltz, each strike and parry a testament to their determination. It ended with Jon dropping his sword and laying fists at Muzan and landing a final blow to his gut. Send him flying straight to a tree and crash hard. Jon puts his sword back and throws smoke pellets down to get the chance to run. Muzan managed to get back to his feet with a growl. Jon has now become his arch rival.

"This is far from over...Jon Sin." said Muzan.

Meanwhile in the secret bunker in Jon's home nursing Nezuko back to health, Tanjirou and Jon manage to put a sturdy comfortable muzzle made of bamboo on her mouth. Nezuko has become a demon herself and now needs to get used to writing her words to communicate with them or anyone. Nezuko cane two and looked at her two favorite boys before touching her muzzle before muffling something.

"You want to know why we muzzle you?." Tanjirou asked.

Nezuko nodded.

"Because you are now a full demon. This muzzle will help you train yourself to control the urge to kill or drink blood from any innocent person. If you can't control your thirst for blood, we might have to..." Tanjirou trailed off, unable to say the words.

"It won't come to that, Tanjirou." Jon looks at him. "No one is going to slay my woman."

Nezuko nodded in agreement. Though her voice was muffled by the muzzle, the determination in her eyes was clear.

Tanjirou hands his sister a notepad and a pencil. "Here, you can use this to communicate with us."

Nezuko takes them with a nod, scribbling down her first words as a demon. "Thank you. I'll do my best."

Jon smiled and kissed her on the forehead. "Love you."

Nezuko wrote on the pad, "Love you too."
