Work Text:
In the morning, I walk into the woods
There is a great big table there
And as I sit down, I see the people around me
I can’t see their faces, but I know them well
They wear the same green as I do
And on the great big table is a great big board
Ever shifting, ever changing
But the tiles are familiar
The game begins again, and I pick up my dice
We go around the board as tiles turn green
The clovers mark the spot, each bringing us luck
Someone takes my hand when a monster appears
Tomorrow, I will do the same for others
As more of us show up, the table grows
Creating new seats, new dice, new hands to hold and take
We share points and thoughts over tea
(100 for bags, 200 for loose-leaf, 300 for recommendations)
We don’t know eachother, and yet we do
The board and the green and the table connect us all
In the evening, I walk out of the woods
I will return in the morning, as will the others
We’ll share thoughts and points and tea and luck again
And time may take the dice, the board, the table
The woods will overtake them again, make it part of itself again
But I’ll keep walking into the woods until then.
