Kakuchou and Takemichi had been friends ever since they were young. Even after Kakuchou was sent to an orphanage, Takemichi continues to visit and play with the scarred boy. So it was no surprise that the young girl developed feelings for the boy as the years went on, and they are now in high school.
However, for the span of 10 years being together since they were young, and being hit with puberty like a train, Kakuchou remained infuriately oblivious to the advances of the young girl, and to the annoyance of their friends.
Exhibit A
Mrs. Himeko, the lady that look after the orphanage, is the first one to notice that Takemichi liked Kakuchou, and she found it endearing and lovely, which makes her feel like shes 20 years younger again.
However, she also noticed that the scarred boy is as dense as a rock.
”Kaku-chan, I liked you,” the young girl say she gave the boy the flowers she picked up in the garden.
“I liked Michi-chan too! You are my best friend in the world!” Kakuchou said it back without thinking. The young boy smiled widely as he took the flowers Takemichi gave him. The young girl just pouted, as the scarred boy was unable to get her feelings.
”Hmph! Baka Kaku-chan!” Takemichi yelled at the boy as she stomped away. “Huh???” Young Kakuchou was left dumbfounded, not knowing what he had done wrong.
Mrs. Himeko cries as she clutches her pearls in the scene in front of him. This has been the 13th time the young girl has confessed her love to the boy, only for Kakuchou to friend-zone the poor girl obliviously again.
‘You can do it, Michi-chan!’ Mrs. Himeko thought as she wished Takemichi the best.
Even after Kakuchou reaches an independent age, both he and Izana decide to leave the orphanage in order to be more independent.
Lots of things change. Kakuchou and Takemichi became teenagers and are now in high school, but they still visit the orphanage from time to time, and Kakuchou is still oblivious to the girl’s advances.
”Kaku-chan, please go out with me!” Takemichi said as she anticipated the boys' answer.
”Sure, lemme just call Izana too,” Kakuchou said, and he took his phone and called his white-haired friend.
Takemichi pouted and kicked the boy in the legs and walked away. Kakuchou left dumbfounded, still not getting the girl's intention.
Mrs. Himeko just sat defeated in the corner as she witnessed yet another confession gone wrong for the 60th time. She felt the slow burn of this relationship with no progress as she watched in the corner, burning in the excruciating pain and anticipation.
‘Will I be able to see a wedding soon?’ Mrs. Himeko thought to herself as she looked to the skies with a single tear in her eyes.
Exhibit B
Izana had been friends with Kakuchou ever since he entered the orphanage and met Takemichi after Kakuchou introduced her to him, and from there, the three of them became close to each other.
Izana also knew that Takemichi liked Kakuchou; he could see how the girl looked at the boy with hearts in her eyes, and also how clingy the girl was with him.
Izana found it endearing as he watched Takemichi trying to get the attention of the dense Kakuchou.
At first, he found it cute and funny. But as the years go by, they become teenagers, and both Kakuchou and Takemichi reach puberty and high school, Kakuchou continues to be as dense as a rock and blind to the advances of the pretty girl.
Izana felt like bashing his head into the wall hard in the development (nonexistent) in the relationship, as he continued to be the unwilling third wheel in this relationship, and he wanted out as soon as possible.
”Kaku-chan, my parents aren’t home. So like, do you want to come by~?” Takemichi openly flirt to the scarred teen as she twirls her long black hair in her fingers, the two buttons of her shirt are unbuttoned, showing her cleavage, trying to seduce the boy.
”Michi! You shouldn’t invite anyone to your home when your parents are out! It’s dangerous! You'd better make sure you lock your door and window also at night! Also, button your shirt! Do you know how many perverts they are!” Kakuchou scolded the blue-eyed girl as he closed the buttons of her shirt. Takemichi just pouted as he let the scarred man scold him, not getting what she meant.
Izana bashed his head against the wall as he felt sorry for the girl, and her life was reduced to 14 years.
’Please let me out of this suffering!' Izana thought as he continued to bash his head against the wall.
Exhibit C
”Hina-chaaaan!" Takemichi cried in her best friend's arms, and Hinata comforted the girl who had been rejected (unintentionally) by her childhood friend, whom she had been pining for 10 years. It is the usual sight for both Hinata, Yuzuha, Emma, and Senju at this point; it become a routine now for them.
All four girls are ready to take away Kakuchou's kneecap privileges for hurting their friend, especially Yuzuha.
"Probably you need a more direct approach, you know?" Senju suggested, which caught the attention of Takemichi, "What do you mean?" the blue-eyed girl asked, trying to listen intently.
"You know, like getting more in business, telling him what you feel. The one where he will instantly get what you mean." Senju explained to the girl, "That's a great idea, Senju-chan! Why didn't I think of that! Okay! I will confess in the cherry blossom behind the school! That way, he will probably know my feelings!" Takemichi said, and she waved goodbye to them as she ran to Kakuchou's classroom to meet her in the cherry blossom behind the school.
Senju felt proud, and finally, she was able to give great advice to the girl; all four of them knew one thing.
'That guy will still not get it!' All of them collectively thought.
It was already after school, and everyone went home. Takemichi and Kakuchou were standing under the cherry blossom tree, and the atmosphere was like one of the shojo manga Chifuyu read every time. Hinata, Emma, Yuzuha, and Senju watched in the corner with popcorn with them as they watched what would happen.
"Kaku-chan, I-I want to say something to you!" Takemichi announces proudly, Kakuchou looked at her curiously.
"I-I... Kaku-chan! I've really enjoyed your company, and I've developed deep feelings for you! I'm telling you this because I'd like to take our relationship to a more serious level! Can we be-!" Takemichi was cutted of her words when suddenly Kakuchou hugged her. Takemichi's heart is beating fast, and her faced turned red. The four girls are invested.
Kakuchou pulled away and looked at her straight in the eyes, "Michi-chan..."
"Of course! I will be your Super Best Friend!" Kakuchou happily said and placed both of his hands on her shoulder as he rambled about how happy he was, and he would make sure that he would be the best Super Best Friend ever in the world. Takemichi just weakly smiled through the pain as she heard her soul crack. The four girls never felt more disappointed in the scarred boy, even more so as he continued to disappoint them further.
'Of course, his an dumbass after all! Time to revoke his kneecap privilege!' They all collectively thought, and they ready they bats.
Izana was also there, watching from the rooftop. He never felt more tempted to just give in and jumped from the rooftop.
Exhibit D
Everyone admired Takemichi, I mean, a pretty girl with a sexy ass body, big boobs, big ass, thiccc legs (Mikey's words, not mine), and a kind and amazing personality; she was basically the school's heartthrob. Who wouldn't fall in love with her, after all?!
Not Kakuchou! Everyone collectively agree in campus that Kakuchou is a big, dense, dumbass.
The guy is great and all, he's amazing at Kendo, and the captain of the Kendo Club. But they also knew the boy was as dense as a rock; no matter how much Takemichi showed her he loved her and publicly pined for her, the boy truly didn't get it. The whole campus felt bad for the blue-eyed girl and her hundreds of failed confessions to the boulder.
Kakuchou is talking to the Haitani brothers when Takemichi barges in with a bento in his hand. Kakuchou stops, and as he gives his attention to the blue-eyed girl, they talk for a while, and Takemichi gives the bento to the scarred boy, and then, to everyone's shock, Takemichi tip toes gives Kakuchou a peck on the cheek and quickly runs away from the scene, leaving everyone in shock.
'Are they finally together?!' Ran, Rindou, and everyone who witnessed the scene thought.
"So anyway, where are we?" Kakuchou went back to his conversation with Ran and Rindou.
"Oh myyy~, what's this~? The angel giving bento to the rock~? What seemed to happen ~?" Ran teased Kakuchou as he wrapped his arms around the scarred man's shoulder. "She even gives you a peck on the cheeks. How sweet~." Rindou butt in.
"Yeah! Michi and I are now Super Best Friends!" Kakuchou proudly said.
'Bitch, what?!' All of the collectively throught.
"W-what?" Ran said.
"Yeah! Takemichi said she wants to take our friendship to the next level, and she wants us to be Super Best Friends."
'THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE MEANT!'
"Takemichi looks so happy! We even went to the Ramen Shop with Izana to celebrate!"
'NOOOOO! YOU IDIOT!'
"We even brought ourselves matching BFF bracelets," and showed the green bracelets with metal engraving 'Super Best Friends Ever'.
'FUCKKKKKK!'
Everyone collectively thought to themselves.
'Poor Takemichi, friend-zoned yet again.'
Takemichi has been pining for her childhood best friend, Kakuchou, for 10 years and 150 failed confessions with no progress, and she and Kakuchou are still in the friend zone that she never seems to get out of. Takemichi is slowly starting to think that probably Kakuchou never saw her as anything other than a best friend, and Takemichi is starting feel like an idiot for stupidly loving a guy who only sees her as a friend.
Takemichi sits on one of the benches on the campus. Takemichi felt tears falling from her eyes, and she couldn't stop them. She continued to bawl her eyes out, not noticing someone approaching in her direction, and sat next to her.
The person offered his handkerchief to her. Takemichi looked up and saw Izana beside her. Takemichi thanked him and took the handkerchief to wipe the tears from his eyes. Izana waits for her to calm down before he started talking.
"His dense as fuck isn't it?" Izana said, Takemichi remained quiet.
"You're probably thinking that he only sees you as a friend, but I know that guy. She loves you know."
"If she likes me, then he should have accepted my first confession, not dragging it out for 10 years. I feel like I was just chasing a fleeting dream."
"Probably, he does not have the confidence to answer your confession," Izana said. Takemichi looked at him.
"He probably thinks low of himself. For him your are probably his savior, a perfect girl who deserves better, that why he started to bury deep his feelings to not feel the bitter rejection he might face."
"He masked his feared for ignorance to protect himself, only for it to make him blind."
"You know both of you are perfect together. Both of you are idiots." Izana said, making Takemichi get angry at him.
"Why am I an idiot! Kaku-chan is being an idiot! I love him so much! I don't care that he isn't perfect! I loved him the way he is!" Takemichi cried.
"Michi-chan? Izana-san?"
Takemichi and Izana both looked in the direction of the voice, only to see Kakuchou standing there with a worried expression. Kakuchou ran to comfort Takemichi, wiping the tears out of her eyes.
"Well, I'll let you two love birds settle this now. Bye." Izana stood and walked away as he let the two settle their feelings once and for all.
Kakuchou tried to calm down Takemichi, only for him to push him away.
"Stop it." Takemichi weakly said.
"Stop treating me like this!" Takemichi said as he tried to push Kakuchou away.
"What do you mean? I don't get it?" Kakuchou asked.
"That! When will you stop being dense!?"
"I don't wanna be friends only!"
"I love you! I fell in love with you, idiot! When will you see that?!" "When will you see that I don't see you as a friend, or a best friend anymore!"
"I can't take it anymore! I-"
Kakuchou pulled her close as he connected their lips and devoured her.
"I'm sorry," Kakuchou apologized. "I'm sorry, I should have been honest with my feelings." Kakuchou pulled her close and hug her tightly, as if Takemichi will run away from him.
"Please... Stay with me."
"I don't know what to do without you. I love you! Please be mine forever!" Kakuchou finally confessed as he cuffed Takemichi's face.
"Idiot, I will!" Takemichi answered as she looked at Kakuchou.
Both have loved in their eyes, finally able to be honest about their feeling and finally together and forever.
Izana looked both at the corner, with a smile on his face. Looks like his jobs here is done, and he left the two lovers have their moment.
The next day, Kakuchou and Takemichi both walked together to school, hands clasped as they walked inside the campus, and everyone knew that, finally, Kakuchou stopped being a dumbass now.
