Chapter Text
Medkit.
An inphernal with his assigned animal being a mix of a Flemish giant rabbit and a deer.
After escaping the grasps of Subspace and the Korblox administration, he’s found himself in a suspicious religion.
He’s not one to care much for religion, in fact, he’s only ever read about the deities for scientific purposes.
Of course, he still respects them and would never degrade a deity.
Several loud and powerful knocks rang through his hotel room, a thick voice hissing impatiently.
“Hey, Kit! Get up now! How are ya still asleep!?”
Speak of the church and they shall appear.
Medkit sat up from their uncomfortable temporary bed, stretching their legs and arms with a small groan. The bed creaked under him as he rubbed his weary eyes.
His hooves touch down on the floor with a click as he hobbled around for his glasses and shirt.
“KIT! HURRY UP!” Scythe screamed out as Medkit fumbled with his button up shirt and coat.
“Let me finish up, Rifle.” Medkit sighed out as he scratched above his empty eye socket.
He cracks open the door, his coat slightly dusted from the previous night, and right outside his door were two inphernals.
Scythe, formally known as Rifle, is a wanted criminal and a powerful duel gear wielder, her assigned animal is a Cobra evidently shown by her jacket collar being popped up and her lack of legs.
And The Broker, an amalgamation of several inphernals and animals, it’s surprising that they’re even alive, a medical disaster.
“Cmon Kit! We got a little store to pay a visit to…” Scythe’s forked tongue hisses as she smirks, her fangs pointing out as Medkit simply nods and prepares his gear.
He’s a support, something that’s rare to come across especially in the Inphinity.
Too bad he doesn’t care for that.
The Broker starts to speak and Medkit instantly tuned it out, his ears pointed downwards as he follows Scythe out of the hotel.
The Crossroads is a beautiful place, mostly.
The streets are filled with inphernal’s young and old, all of them exploring or simply resting on a bench that’s been graffitied.
The sounds of newspawn’s running around and birds singing for a potential mate fills Medkit’s ears.
All around the crossroads you can see several posters, music artists, propaganda posters, and large billboards with an even larger inphernal.
Wait what?
Medkit turns their head around as they walk through the streets of crossroads, staring at a billboard featuring an inphernal in an action movie.
The inphernal is definitely bigger than an average inphernal, their frame stretching tightly against the inphernal’s military suit as their horns glimmered a majestic purple, their purple blindfold perfectly covers their eyes as their sharp and cocky smiled flashed on the billboard.
Gods how annoying, Medkit always hated action flims.
But the actor did look handsome, that’s for sure-
“MEDKIT!” Medkit let out a horrible squeak as his eyes locked onto the source of the yell.
Ugh right, Broker.
Scythe noticed Medkit’s loss of focus and followed Medkit’s previous gaze, she snarled, her tail whipping the concert floor beneath them.
“I always hated that pampered little Warden..”
Medkit blinked their single eye once.
Then twice.
WARDEN?!?
“Uhm, that’s the Warden of Banlands?” Medkit gazed at Scythe as she sneers
“Yeah, a little stupid burden I tell you.” Scythe fixes her hat as she starts to walk off again, heading to a small jewelry shop near the edges of Crossroad.
Medkit follows but not before giving another glance towards the billboard.
A faint butterfly feeling in his stomach cut him out of his trance, his hooves clicking on the floor as he picks up his pace to be on par with Scythe’s.
Hopefully he doesn’t see the Warden soon.
⚬──────────✧──────────⚬
Banhammer isn’t a normal inphernal.
He’s a Demi Deity, sharing the assigned animal like his uncles, as he’s a dragon.
Even when he was young he was taught to be powerful, to protect the people of the Inpherno from danger of any kind.
And he takes the title of Warden Of Banlands with honor.
Although they did take on a few hobbies here and there, like acting!
He’s not very good at it.
Several inphernal’s line the studio’s walls, one inphernal with a sparkling rainbow hoodie runs around like a headless chicken as their presumably worried sibling chases after them.
Banhammer watches everyone beneath his blindfold, his four eyes silently scanning for any criminals.
It’s a habit, he can’t help but be on the lookout despite his employees surrounding the area like bulldogs.
His claws dig into his script as he simply watches, his face is a mixture of impatience and anger.
A slightly slim but short inphernal lightly taps on Banhammer’s shoulder, waking the Warden up from their trance.
“Huh? Need something?” Banhammer said as his scaly tail dragged across the floor in an agonizingly slow fashion.
“Sir, there’s been a robbery near the edges of Crossroads-“ Banhammer slammed his foot on the ground as his large and heavy gear appears in the air and into his hands.
(The poor inphernal jumped in fear at the noise, but Banhammer couldn’t care less.)
“SAY NO MORE! I bet it’s that snake and her Frankenstein monster anyways.”
The inphernal simply nods as they point to the direction of the incident.
Banhammer bolts out of the studio as he snatches his hoodie off the coat hanger before leaving.
His blood was running hot as he smirks, his lower fang poking upward as he summons his wings, helping him with his speed.
As he slowly approached the shop, he could already tell it’s been stripped clean. Jewelry spills onto the floor as the store clerk cries in a corner, ugh.
An officer called Coirsar gently pats Banhammer’s back, his gear: a flintlock, hangs from his hand
Banhammer looks down and waits for Coirsar to speak.
“The culprits left towards the region of Lost Temple, need me to get backup, Sir?” The short inphernal spoke, almost shaking from excitement of being near the Warden.
Banhammer nods as he pats the rookie on their head, causing the poor officer to nearly drop dead onto broken glass.
“Yes, get backup while i hunt down that stupid rat.”
Banhammer instantly starts heading in the direction of Lost Temple, his hammer slung over his shoulder as he notices a few droplets of blood on the floor, leading a breadcrumb trail.
Oh how stupid they were.
⚬──────────✧──────────⚬
Medkit was sweating, he still isnt used to the blistering heat of Lost Temple and he certainly wasn’t in shape to be running.
Scythe was covered head to tail in gemstones and gold, a large crown on her head as well.
“We can rest here, I don’t believe the Warden can find us this easily.”
The Broker laughs, his voice raspy and grating to Medkit’s ears.
“Hey patch me up here, Medkit!” He sticks out his arm and shows Medkit a lodged piece of glass in his arm, still bleeding and dripping.
Medkit unclamps his Medkit as he makes quick work of the wound.
As he wraps the bandage, he looks back at their previous direction before noticing droplets of blood leading directly to their location.
“Uhm, Rifle...” Medkit turns to Scythe as she stretches out her tail, almost like she’s stretching her nonexistent legs.
“What is it, Kit-“ her eye drops onto the trail of blood before bouncing up from the ground in a panic and grabbing both inphernals and ducking behind a large rock.
Medkit gets a harsh surprise as The Broker falls directly onto his stomach, causing the air to be forced out of his stomach.
“Stay here, I don’t want ya guys getting caught by that excuse of a Warden.”
Scythe hisses as she summons her gear, walking towards their previous area as she waits.
Not long after, a bright glimmer catches Medkit’s attention as he pokes his head out to watch.
The same inphernal from the billboard.
The Warden.
Was right in front of Scythe with a large spiked hammer that towered over her.
Medkit couldn’t hear what they were saying but it seemed like Scythe was having a good time, her tongue sticking out in a teasing manner as The Warden’s face grew more red with anger.
Medkit stood up from behind the rock, his ears perking up as he stepped closer to listen,
A sharp yelp rippled through the empty desert as Broker clutched their rat tail
“Doc! That’s my tail you were stepping on!!”
Scythe and The Warden both snapped their heads towards the noise, and before Scythe could distract him again, The Warden already locked onto the two, slamming The Broker into the ground and trapping Medkit in between his arm.
“No time for games, Scythe.” The Warden snarled, his hammer raised as both inphernals groaned in pain from the strength of the Warden.
“Either you give up this cat and mouse chase, or I give your accomplices a taste of my mallet.” With a huff, he pointed the mallet of the hammer against Medkit’s horn, clinking with his ring.
Medkit stared at Scythe, his expression pitiful as The Broker wiggled and squirmed beneath Banhammer’s knee.
Scythe stared at Medkit with an unrecognizable expression, her eye twitched before she inhaled.
“Take em.” Scythe said like she was talking about a casual brunch plan.
“Wait-“ The Warden cut Medkit off as he let out a hardy laugh, grabbing Broker by the horns.
“If you say so!”
Medkit stared at Scythe who exhaled and slithered a few feet back, leaving Medkit completely shocked, the gem between his horns glowing brighter and brighter.
The Broker was already used to being captured by the Warden, infact he had his head knocked off once by The Warden.
Medkit did not want to be a Headless Horseman.
What would happen to him? Should he struggle and run like a rabbit? Or freeze like a deer in headlights-
“Oi, can you get that gem to stop glowing?!?” Medkit froze as he hurriedly grabbed the gem and chucked it away, keeping it a distance away from the Warden.
The Warden leaned down towards Medkit as he analyzed their face beneath his blindfold.
Medkit glanced away as he hung in the air by his arm, his brain working overtime to figure out how to be let free.
A few officers raced over as they brought a police car over, ready to clear the area, as a few officers bagged up his crystal and handed it to Banhammer, picking up loose jewelry as well.
“Take the nutcase and bunny rabbit.”
The Warden handed The Broker and Medkit to the officer, who muzzled Broker and shoved Medkit into the cop car before driving off in the direction of Banlands.
He stared out to Scythe who nodded at Medkit before they disappeared out of sight.
“And you.” The Warden glared at Scythe as he snarled, smirking with pride as he dragged his hammer against the sand.
“You aren’t gonna get away this time, and even if you do, your little healer won’t be able to kiss your wounds better.”
Scythe hissed as she switches the mode on her gear, shaking off the now useless jewelry.
Medkit should be fine as long as she distracts the Warden.
⚬──────────✧──────────⚬
Banhammer called his cab over as he walked back towards the Crossroads with open wounds and bullets lodged into his claws.
His body ached as golden ichor bled from his wounds, causing him to lack more energy than usual.
He’s heard rumors of a ‘Doctor’ helping the church, but he didn’t expect them to look so pitiful.
And weak.
He didn’t care though, the weaker the easier the information slips out of their mouth.
He reached the cab and slumped into the backseat, his armor clinking with each movement.
“Take me to the Crossroad’s station.”
“You got it boss!” The driver smiled at Banhammer before starting the car and driving.
The sights of Crossroads weren’t new to Banhammer, he’d seen the good and bad of this bustling city, in fact, he’d seen a few of his uncles perch on top of the tower in the middle of the night.
He can’t blame them, the lights and colors are dazzling even when he was still a newly spawned inphernal.
Speaking of lights, as the sun dipped down and the moon started to shine, the lights flickered on, showering the city in an array of colors, mostly a bright teal.
The color resembles the crystal that the Doctor threw.
Banhammer shook his head as he took off his blindfold and stared outside, his four golden eyes staring off into the distance.
His eyes slightly hurt from the lights but it’s a necessary sacrifice to look at such beautiful colors.
He wishes he was more awake to witness them better.
