Astrid stares him down. Her shoulders are tense and her eyes are the same shade of pitying that Hiccup has spent his whole life avoiding. That he will spend the rest of his life avoiding, if he can help it.

No, Hiccup thinks, squeezing his eyes shut, it isn’t like him. But what other choice does he have?

Some say that being Chief is a great honour. Hiccup would much rather say that it’s his doom.
When an evening flight to avoid Berk takes a turn for the worse, Hiccup finds himself stranded miles from home with time sensitive knowledge about a dragon army and its crash course with Berk.
If that wasn’t enough, Hiccup finds himself fending off unwanted attention from a masked stranger and very wanted attention from a boy he can’t risk getting attached to.
Hiccup will manage it all- and fix it all- or die trying.
