      the way alhaitham eventually resigns himself to "if nobody wants to hear what i say, then i won't speak" and how he seems genuinely convinced of his inherent,,, badness. what's even more devastating is how he was initially so convinced that yes, everyone just doesn't understand him, but logics out that if every single person he's met and talked to thinks he's an asshole who has a superiority complex, then they must be telling the truth. that what alhaitham's thought all his life is in fact denial. and for kaveh to realise this, as well as his own part in this tragedy, and to try again and again to make alhaitham change his mind to no avail HURTS MY KOKORO. alhaitham's descent into depression and acceptance really tore smth in me idk. future me take note REREAD THIS

      to imagine the despair kaveh feels at the prospect that he's both misunderstood and hurt so deeply someone he's admired for a long time also incites the same despair in the reader. PROVES THE AUTHOR'S SKILL IN WRITING FOR REALLLLL

      other than the emotional substance i also really loved the format of it all. kaveh's beginning notes on his translation journey and his emotional turmoil as with the "i don't know. i don't know i don't" or smth
      also i had to search up who buer was LMAO made me do a double take when i realised it was nahida hearing the entire afterward. i dunno how to feel about such a private journey being clinically catalogued and transcripted but then i wondered how neurodivergent is nahida??
