So far this is decent, but there is one gigantic question mark that is seriously warping my reactions to this fic. Aang frankly deserves a looooot more anger than what little Toph showed. Like, holy shit, just left all of his loved ones with zero warning for seven years, and also ceased all contributions to rebuilding the new world. Slamming the door in his face would be an entirely justified reaction at that point. There's just a bit of cognitive dissonance between my reaction and the actual cast's reaction.
He's the Avatar. They all knew he would have to leave eventually. They always do, and at least he left them a letter.
He could have left Katara lonely and hopelessly pining because she's stuck in a relationship that she can't officially breakup from because the other half isn't there. Nobody would help her cheat, for fear of the Avatar raining heartbroken fury upon the unfortunate man.
