    I feel horrible for not leaving a comment the first time i read this, so here I am now.
    I saw that you updated and it really made my week so I’m rereading this amazing masterpiece.
    I’m in love with your writing ability, to be able to turn a light heart felt moment to into a heart wrenching one in just a few words. I know I already read this, but my soul leave my body every time I read:
    Oh, he thinks and swallows hard. Swallows down the sand, the salt, the sea.

    And the way you ended this chapter??

    “There are two bishops in chess,” Hartley says and she smiles red, even without the lipstick, skewering him straight through the heart:

    “And a whole lot of pawns.”
