  1. one of the most unique and interesting aspects of this fic i love is the organic skater speak. i’m not a skater, and from what i’ve seen, neither are the rest of us in the fandom, so this is super immersive and refreshing. i only casually follow some skaters bc i used to skate (very badly and briefly) as a teen. which is why i was able to understand this exchange, which was a fucking delightful wink-wink joke to have in this universe:

    "Fuck, dude, I don't ride switch."

    "Max Goof can't stance goofy?" Bradley jokes, pivoting back in a lazy turn. "All that street skating and you don't even have your namesake. Cruel irony."

    1. also great to see here is the classic experience of discovering (someone’s) mags. and the types of queer mags at the time. i pegged brad for an “XY” type, but phew…he’s def more hardcore than that! i echo the others’ praise for how well-crafted this piece is! it’s clear you know what tf you’re talking about, bc the nostalgia is woven in so expertly
