“Yeah,” Todoroki says, turning towards him. “It was good. You were good.” His stupid, mismatched eyes bore holes into the side of Katsuki’s head, the low timbre of his voice so fucking inappropriate for how many of their colleagues are still milling around the site. Katsuki hates the flush that crawls up his neck, hates the blasé affect that Todoroki speaks to him with, hates that it works on him. Somehow doesn’t hate that they’re still fucking doing this, doing each other, years and years down the line.

The heat is like a wool blanket under a July sun, a physical weight pressing down on him. Katsuki blinks the sweat out of his eyes, thinks of absolutely nothing. He wants to stay here forever. It’s nice. The ache in his shoulders and the coarseness of the rope on his skin have crossed over from pain into something else, something welcomed. He’s alive where Todoroki’s hands touch his wrists, his shoulders, the nape of his neck. He bets he looks beautiful. Todoroki always makes him look beautiful.

“Don’t provoke me.”
“Or what, hah?” Bakugou sneers, quietness evaporated in an instant. “Or you’ll actually do it?” He shakes his head, relaxes back against the lockers like Shouto isn’t pinning him there with his bodyweight. “You wouldn’t. You couldn’t. You have no idea how to take what you fucking want.”
(Oh, but he does know how to take. Just not how to deserve.)
Or, being friends with benefits is fine by Todoroki, right up until it isn't.
