Summary
Damian Wayne was raised to lead assassins, not to attend third grade, but after his mother leaves in in Gotham with no chance to return home he does his best to earn his father's approval.
Bruce Wayne had no idea that he had a son and has no idea how to be a father to a traumatized nine-year-old who refuses to admit to any trauma.
Alfred Pennyworth has experience in parenting a traumatized nine-year-old boy and is slowly losing patience with his employer/ son in all but name.

Summary
Stephanie Brown unofficially works for the dance store down the street from her house. It's easier on her ego than admitting that her mom still wants her to have a babysitter after school even though she's eleven years old. Her dad is getting out of prison again in a few months, her mom still will not admit that she's going through her pills too fast again, and it's a relief to stay in the back room of the dance store and earn a little money for herself.
She has no idea how much her life will change when she befriends a shy girl looking for a leotard.

Summary
Bruce doesn't expect any trouble with the latest child he takes in as an emergency foster placement. After raising one child from the League of Assassin's, one directly from David Cain's private instruction in assassination, and one who was working against Cluemaster with not many resources beyond a purple outfit and spite, he thinks that Tim Drake won't be much of a challenge.
Bruce is wrong. It takes detective work from multiple parties to realize why Tim is hesitant to trust Bruce Wayne and even more cautious about the Bats.

Summary
Almost a year after the attack, Batman has not found enough evidence to determine who killed Janet Drake and badly injured her husband. If he can solve the case and guarantee that there is no further threat, that might be the leverage he needs to convince Jack to let Tim visit the Waynes on weekends.
Jack Drake knows who killed his wife. He has no intention of giving anyone a single hint that he knows anything. He will not put his son in danger.
Tim Drake has no idea who killed his mom but he's not going to sit alone in his room pretend that her murder didn't happen. If his dad won't talk about what happened, Tim will find the killer himself, and he doesn't care that the Waynes have let his dad's paranoia shut him out from their their Batcave and their home and their lives.
The man who ordered Janet Drake's death isn't alone in wondering why Black Bat hasn't patrolled for a while.

Summary
Damian Wayne wants to protect his family. His siblings make this difficult.
Stephanie Brown decides that some reasonable risk-taking might help motivate everybody to start living again after Tim's death. The risk is not nearly as reasonable as she predicts.
Tim's death is not permanent. His family doesn't know.
Cassandra Wayne does not want Stephanie to take such unreasonable risks. Cassandra also does not want to think about her biological parents but her mother comes to Gotham with an offer and her father vanishes from prison.
Jason Todd tries to steal the Batmobile's tires to make some easy money. He gets a much better offer.
