That sound was one of Geto Suguru’s oldest memories. He was barely six when his family moved from the southernmost coast of Japan to a town deep in the countryside. It was a traditional three-bedroom home, though that was just how his parents sugarcoated the fact that it was old and in the middle of nowhere.Suguru’s parents told him that the sounds were just the house “settling.”
That sound taught Suguru a few things at the age of six.
1. It was (probably) just the house settling.
2. He had to be brave enough to sleep in his own room eventually.

Summary
Some things got easier over time. Suguru knew the rules. He was getting better at being "normal." He knew how to avoid notice and keep that notice positive when it was unavoidable.
Then he met Gojo Satoru— He was arrogant, occasionally cruel, and the most annoying person Suguru ever had the displeasure of meeting.
Satoru didn't seem to operate under the same rules as the rest of them.
Suguru convinced himself that he had to or the world was fucked.
