Summary
Title comes from the song Color Him Father - The Winstons which suits this fic perfectly.
Every year, the last English assignment Mr. Syme gives to his class is to write a letter to their fathers for Father's Day. Over the last three years, he's written a total of five letters to his parents, all of which are buried right in front of their headstones. It's become something of a ritual for him every Mother's and Father's Day, but instead of finding it easier with each passing year, he finds it harder.
This year, as Mr. Syme gives his lecture on the assignment, there's someone else Ponyboy is thinking of; someone else he's making those memories with.
He writes a letter to his brother instead.

It hasn't been a home since his mother left, and he's been counting down the days until he could leave it. When he brings up the idea of getting a place with Sodapop, he's reminded that Soda can't just up and leave his brother's, especially while Pony is still a minor, and Darry still needs help with the bills.
He resolves to lets it go. It was a good dream, but a dream nonetheless.
What Steve doesn't expect is for Ponyboy to have a solution to his problems. Maybe the kid really was a genius.

Summary
“You just don’t know when to shut your fuckin’ mouth,” Trip laughed, dark and dangerous. The kicks to his ribs were bordering on dangerous, and he felt a tightness in his chest that he knew should scare him. His head was foggy and he briefly wondered how many head injuries he could sustain before the damage became permanent. The last thing he said before passing out was aimed at Paul, and it lacked the previous bite as he clung to consciousness, “My Mama would be so disappointed in you.” Ponyboy blacked out before he could see the way Paul hesitated.

Summary
"They say it like milk has been spilled on the floor
They say they don't know who I am anymore
Well, I just have never shown anger before"*Title comes from Carlo's Song by Noah Kahan*
When Ponyboy woke up, he promptly rolled back over and buried his head into his pillow. His brothers were gone at work, and judging by the sunlight peaking through, it was at least mid morning. Most likely Steve was at work with Soda and Two-Bit was recovering from a night out, leaving Ponyboy home alone. Soda had offered to take the day off, but Ponyboy had waved him off. When Darry asked what he wanted to do to celebrate, the now fifteen year old gave him a mild shrug and told his brother that he was happy with having chicken and potatoes. Darry had offered to take him and Soda out to celebrate, but Pony had brushed off the notion.

It's Ponyboy's first birthday since the death of his parents and the loss of his best friends. It goes about as well as one might expect.
