Confusion spears Henry, a launched javelin, pulling his thoughts from figs and burnt sugar.
“What?” he croaks, not bothering to mask his befuddlement.
“Don’t play stupid, boy.” Two fingertips are placed on either side of Henry’s sweat, blood, and dirt-smeared sternum. They begin a trek down, stepping one by one with each word. “Who put this little demon in your belly?”
