Summary
Decorating a junkyard school bus with a bunch of middle schoolers isn’t, exactly, something Eddie thought he’d ever be doing. But, here he is, lifting metal sheets up for Steve’s inspection and heaving them over to the bus when he gets a nod, smelling like raw meat and forest trees.
His life’s fucking weird.
There’s a redhead he’s never seen before, helping him and Steve while Henderson and Sinclair whisper-shout at each other behind a car. He’s a second away from yelling at them to come help.
Steve beats him to the punch, and he swears he sees the little redhead laughing at the two under her breath.
He sticks close to Steve and his curled shoulders. Sticks close to Steve and his watchful eyes, keeping track of the kids when they stray too far to grab at something. Sticks close to Steve and the rattling of static coming from speakers that are barely held together.
