In retrospect, the fact that Yvonne refers to her husband as "this one," rather than his perfectly adequate name, may be a sign that her current marriage is just as doomed as the first.
(Less obvious in its demise though; somewhere along the way perfectly contented parallel play became living fully separate lives, nominally under the same roof. No shouting matches, no name calling, just mutual disinterest.)
"Have you got to get back home?" Jess asks, sitting down behind the bar across from her, taking a long pull of her drink, gone warm after too many fires put out and crises averted (or at least redirected).
Yvonne had stayed longer than she meant to, talking with Jenny Lennocks to make sure the band's opportunity didn't slip away just because everyone else had suddenly disappeared in the chaos. She should have left quietly after Jenny did, sent a text later updating everyone.
But she's still here, lingering at the bar like Cinderella, hoping for something to happen before the clock strikes midnight and magic disappears.
