Tears welled up in Phainon’s eyes. There’s only one person he’d ever marry. “Mydei?” How could he forget getting married to Mydei! It would have been the greatest day of his life!
“Of course!” Cipher encouraged Phainon’s train of thought. “Who else would it be? You’re not cheating on the Little Lion, are you?”
Castorice put her hand on Cipher’s shoulder. “That might be a bit far…”
Cipher just grinned as Phainon’s teary look cleared up and made way for fire in his eyes.
“I would never,” he growled. “Mydei is the only person for me.” Through the fog in his head, he understood that much, and even though the world was tilting again, he steadied himself on the table to properly sit up. With all the gumption of a royal instating a new law, he said, “And I’m the only one for him.”
Cipher tricked a drunk Phainon into believing Mydei is his husband. Mydei is baffled by this development but uses it to his advantage.

"No!" Phainon blurts, mind racing for a way to fix this, everything has gone so wrong so quickly. "You could never embarrass me, Mydei. I'm not homophobic, I swear. I just–" Mydei glances at the room around them and raises a single challenging eyebrow and Phainon bites his lip, following his gaze. "I'll prove it to you! Right here, right now."
Now the other eyebrow is raised. "Prove it...? What terrible idea are you thinking up now?” His voice has softened into begrudging curiosity, and Phainon has already fully made up his mind. He swallows, struck with the heaviness of his conviction as he stares right into Mydei's eyes, maintaining bold contact as he slowly sinks to his knees.
