Summary
When Dennis Whitaker leaves home at 20, ready to spread his wings, he was certain his parents would disown him, or worse.
Now, 8 Years later, life is going good for him. He has a job, friends, a place to live, and he is thriving. That is, of course, until a few ill timed texts and a phone call send him back into the life he thought he left behind. With the emergance of a new serial killer that hits a bit too close to home, the return of his overbaring parents, the nosy prodding of the people who care about him in the Pitt, and his past keeping him awake at night, all Dennis can do is pray.This takes place 18 years after the first part of the series "Little Lamb". You don't have to read the first part to understand this one, but it is highly recomended.

This is the first part of a series, where Dennis is adopted by Hannibal and Will. In this one-shot Dennis is pre realizing he is transgender, as he is a sheltered 8-10 year old child, so he is refered to as "she" and his deadnamed, but he will not be addressed as such in the next instalment.

His new Papa’s name is Andrew David Cody according to the crumpled adoption papers that have been abandoned on the floorboards; the papers that declare that his new name is Dennis Simon Cody. His new Papa hadn’t smiled at the name change, instead dropping one of those large, scarred hands over his curls and planting a small kiss on Denny’s head, keeping his back straight.
Or: Denny had been five when he had landed in the arms of a foster dad out in Southern California. He had been six when someone had stolen him right out of Andrew’s arms and dropped him off in the middle of Broken Bone.
