“Mick,” Colin starts. “We really just came here to see you.”
Mickey scratches his eyebrow with his thumbnail, then turns to Ian.
Ian just shrugs. “You’re the one that gave them our address.”
A look of recognition passes on his face. At least that part was true.
Mickey blows out a breath and his shoulders drop. He sits on the arm of Ian’s chair, and his voice is a little softer around the edges when he asks, “Where the hell have you guys been?”
Ian figures that’s as good a starting point as any.
“I know they knocked the house down,” Mickey says, “and you weren’t with dad when he moved in next to the old Gallagher house.”

Mickey works his jaw, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water, but no sound comes out.
“Hey. It’s okay,” Lip tells him gently. He puts a hand on Mickey’s shoulder, his grip firm. “Just tell me what happened.”
Mickey shakes his head and looks away. “It came out of nowhere.”
