    Summary

“Oh, right – Alhaitham.” Kaveh claps a hand to his forehead. “Cyno, if you see him at the Akademiya tomorrow, don’t mention this to him, would you? I haven’t told him yet.”

“Told him?” Cyno asks slowly, a wary glint in his eye. “What exactly haven’t you told him?”

“That I’m getting married,” Kaveh grimaces. “I wanted to tell him myself – I suppose I do want him at the wedding after all, you know – but I didn’t get a chance yet. You know what it’s like, trying to have a conversation with him.”

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
Kaveh is a single man. That's about it, really.

    Summary

Purple and red stained his palm, a strange mix when he'd been expecting a more natural color. A few of the larger clusters almost looked like flowers, three delicate petals joined together and stained with blood, an odd sight of beauty there in his hand. While under normal circumstances he might have appreciated the sight, he could only feel his stomach sink. This was what he'd always been afraid of, something he couldn't lie to himself or anyone else about, an external, tangible sign of something he'd always known.

    Hanahaki.

    Summary

“So she stands on the balcony, mourning what is left of her half-baked relationship. Half-truth, half-lies. Half-broken, half-finished, half-loved, half-lived. Half of the whole she wanted. Half of her life she’d wasted, wasted on this man who had never loved her at all, who lied to her that he had, who’d lied to himself that he’d learn to eventually.

Half-baked. Hinako laughs, a high, shrill laugh. It’s her final release of sadness, of anger, of God-knows-what she’s feeling. She’s never known for sure whether there’s something up there, but if there is, she thinks it must be out for her.

I hate you more than anything, Mukuhara Kazui.

a half-baked relationship, from hinako’s point of view.

    Summary

This isn’t Kazui’s first run with hanahaki. When his throat had started itching, he’d recognized the feeling immediately. When he’d opened his hand, he’d expected to recognize the object in his hand immediately.

He hadn’t. This is not the sharp, prickly tumbleweed he’d dealt with before, this was softer, almost gentler. It sits wholly innocuous in the palm of his hand, and Kazui can hardly believe it had caused such irritation in his throat mere moments before. In a way, it feels mocking. It’s as if it’s trying to convince Kazui that there’s some greater meaning to the change in the type of flower growing in his lungs.

Kazui isn’t exactly sure how to catalogue his emotions still, but one is coming to the forefront of his mind. It’s familiar to him.

    Disgust.

He flushes the petal down the toilet.

    or, Kazui gets hanahaki (again)

    Summary

"Well." Shidou starts, slightly taken aback, "It depends."
Kazui traces the edge of his now empty glass. "Mmh, you seem like a waltz guy."
Shidou raises his brow, amused. "...What does that imply?"
"You know, you're…" He pauses. "Very formal. Courteous. I think, if I were hosting a ball, I'd send you an invitation to visit - Does that make sense? Don't mind my rambles…"

A ball? Right, because Kazui loves the social pressure that comes with events that expect you to bring partners.
