Summary
Located in northern Japan nestled in the mountains was a village home to one of the most powerful families in the region. The Gojo clan, said to be descendants of the local deity, the six-eyed serpent, they held great influence.
But when a local logger found an old shrine that didn't worship their deity Satoru's father, the head of the gojo clan, called for it to be torn down. Little did they know that had been Sugurus shrine, and he was angry.
So, as payment he requested one small thing, five years from the clan heads life, and Satoru's hand in marriage.

“Exactly.” Satoru nods, taking another big bite out of his slice of pizza.Delicious.
Free food tastes so much better than food he’s had to pay for.“Okay, don’t take offence when I ask you this, but are you out of your fucking mind?!” Suguru looks like he’s about to lose his mind, if Satoru is being honest.
This can’t be that hard to grasp, can it?Or
Satoru really can’t take one more year of countless questions about his dating life and being unsuccessfully set up with yet another woman by his parents.

“Do you think I’m a bad person?”
Satoru sighs. He combs fingers through silky black strands, where he’s already pulled it free from all knots. He takes awhile to answer, and then, he says:
“Wanna know a secret? It’s kind of horrible.”
Suguru seems confused, a little out of it. He whispers back “Sure.”
Satoru looks at him meaningfully, and says,
“I don’t care.”

Or: It took some time, for Satoru to get over himself enough to see his best friend spiralling. Shoko cracks open the windows to Suguru's stuffy room and makes them lunch and thinks maybe late is better than never.

Geto's pulse thrums in his ears, though he feigns nonchalance. "Good for them," he says lamely.
Gojo hums in response, the two of them sitting in taut silence. 11:58 PM.
Then, the shattering of glass: "Wanna try it?"
