It broke all the rules of Patronus magic that Remus had ever known, which was, quite frankly, most of them. But Harry had somehow done it, because the Patronus in front of him was clearly and unmistakably,
“Prongs.”
Prongs jerked his head down from his howl, nudged Remus in the chest with his muzzle, and disappeared.

James let his head fall into his hands, rubbing at the temples as if trying to push Remus's words of of his head.
“Six months.” He muttered in disbelief letting the reality of it all sink in. “I was gone for six months. How did this happen? How did it all get so messed up in just six months!”
Glancing between his fingers he saw Remus grimace from the doorway. “If we are going to be accurate, we let it get all messed up in seventy two hours. It’s just… still a mess six months later.”
