Summary

Jungkook whirled around to see a man stepping out, too beautiful to be anything but a dream. His hair was the same soft pink of the flower he had plucked for Yerim and his eyes were sharp as the edge of the sword Jungkook carried at his belt. The morning light fell on his face mimicking the shimmer of dew on the rose petals and his plump lips stretched around the words he spewed in a way that ought to have been ugly but was nothing short of spectacular. Yerim’s jaw set tight, posture rigid, but Jungkook couldn’t draw his eyes away.
There he was: the legend of old.
He spared Jungkook not a glance.

"No," Shane barks. Ilya raises his eyebrows.
Shane refuses to accept this. This perpetual cycle of suck. When he invited Ilya to his cottage almost four years ago now, he didn't expect their relationship to turn into their fucking burial ground.
Shane finds himself grounded in Ottawa for the foreseeable future. With his newfound free time, he hangs out with his family, eats Costco Rotisserie chicken, and whips Ilya Rozanov back into a champion.

this was fucking insane and i cried real honest human out of my body into the air tears. amazing atmosphere. very exact. the fucking cottage was So Cold and i wasn't even there. but it was so cold and empty. loved the section about the birdhouse that was soooo good. plotline super punchy, pacing so tight. really amazing work.

JJ didn't think the others saw it. Hayden, maybe, but Jackie was the only WAGs's name Shane had committed to memory so Hayden never brought it up. JJ didn't have a wife or girlfriend. He had his hookups and the names of the best restaurants in each city they player in. If JJ had a dog, Shane would probably mix its name up with Drapeau's. The others didn't get that however pathetic or sad they might think Shane, Shane thought the same of them tenfold when they missed shots at practice or ate fast food on weekdays. Shane wasn't being prissy or funny when he said, don't embarass me—JJ still doesn't know exactly what it was, but he doesn't care to find out.
Shane had poured everything into his team (possessively: it was his team) and he asked them to give it back that day, so they delivered. When Shane smiled at them afterwards, it felt like love.
