Summary
Miles knew that he couldn't return home to his universe, not if he wanted his dad to live. Staying in Earth-42 made the most sense, even if he had to hide from Miguel and the rest of the Spider Society, not to mention from Spot, for the rest of his life. He would do anything for his dad.
He knew that he would be found some day, but every day that he spent working in a little coffee shop made it seem like that "some day" was further off. He knew he would be found, but he didn't expect to be found so soon, or by Hobie, who had helped him escape. Especially not a Hobie who had recently been chased by Miguel and the other Spiders.
Except Hobie... doesn't do anything. Doesn't call him out for being Spider-Man, or try and recruit him to fight the Spot. He just comes in, orders coffee, banters a little bit, and leaves.
And maybe Miles is falling a little bit in love. Sue him! -
