Young Lan Wangji didn’t know the way back home. He was alone. He was cold. He was dirty. He was hungry. He was scared. He wanted to cry. Would he be able to go home? Would he ever meet Xiongzhang and Mother again? Would he able to stay alive here?
Suddenly he felt something patting his head. Or someone.
The child was also dirty, his robe was even more worrisome than Wangji’s, but the big smile that he wore was enough to brighten the darkest night.
“Here!” the boy said as he held out a hand. On it was a bun.

“No, I like reading well enough, it just takes me a while to get through a book, especially if it’s slow to start.” He took a sip of his soup, before switching his attention to the bowl of rice at his side. “It’s especially hard for me to read anything right now.”
Lan Wangji wanted to ask him what books he normally liked to read, wanted to say that Wei Wuxian might enjoy mystery books, as they grab attention right from the beginning, and if that still didn’t help, he would be willing to read to Wei Wuxian, every night, whatever book he wanted. He wanted to say all these things, but what he asked was
“What do you mean ‘right now’?”
or, Wei Wuxian has astigmatism, and it causes quite the confusion
