    The reality of Slade calling Grayson into a recall and heel by his side would result in teeth marks on his hands and – depending on how Robin had performed on patrol that night and how displeased Batman was with his sidekick – blood dripping down the kid’s chin. Richard John Grayson was known to get mean when he was nervous, just as he was known to bite like a bad dog.

    Slade took a heavy drag from his cigar, as if to suffocate the sudden irony of his own words.

    Grayson wasn’t the only one who liked to bite.

    Slade, too, left teeth marks on things that weren’t meant to be bitten.

    It was the reason why a seventeen-year-old pup was on the floor of his safe house. Because Slade couldn’t keep his teeth to himself.

    Slade chuckles darkly. "I made you a promise the last time, remember? And you know I'm a man of my word."

    He lowers his head into Dick's neck, following the path of the blade. Up close, his scent is overwhelming, filling up Dick's nose, choking him. Slade's nose trails along the underside of Dick's jaw, the sound of him drawing in air loud and heavy in Dick's ears, and Slade's breath hot against Dick's skin.
