“He’ll be coming to help you kidnap me, you mean,” Li Lianhua grouses, resigned. “You’re both traitors.”
Fang Duobing rolls his eyes. “Yes, forgive us for this horrible affront of wanting to ensure you live safely through the winter with enough coal and food to be comfortable.”
“I’m neither a child, nor an invalid, you know.”
“Not an— Li Lianhua! You were unconscious and lethargic for six weeks, less than three months ago! What if you got snowed in all the way up here while the roads were impassable? What if you get sick, suddenly? What if—” he cuts himself off abruptly and exhales hard through his nose. “Enough, I’m not having this conversation again.”Despite all odds, Li Lianhua has survived his ordeal with the Bicha poison. “We can’t do this here,” Shane protests in a tone that is both unconvincing and totally at odds with the way he’s pulling at the front of Ilya’s shirt. “It’s not even nine o’clock, and this isn’t a fucking nightclub, it’s a respectable pub! Families eat here during the day. You’ll get us kicked out.”
“Mmm,” Ilya hums, biting softly at Shane’s throat. “Better keep quiet, then.
“Fuck,” Shane pants, shivering when Ilya slides a hand into his hair and pulls. “What’s gotten into you?”
“Missed you. Been dreaming of your mouth all week,” Ilya tells him. “Suck my dick, will you?”
“Fuck you,” Shane laughs, “I just drove for nearly two and a half hours to see you. I didn’t even stop at home first to drop off my bags. You haven’t even bought me a drink yet, asshole. You suck my dick!”
Ilya smirks slowly and raises an eyebrow, Shane blushes, and Ilya is momentarily transported to a totally different bathroom in Las Vegas back in 2014, and a very similar conversation.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Summary
“I’m going to take my time with you tonight,” Ilya murmurs, pressing down against Hollander's tongue until he can feel the drool pooling. Hollander moans around the intrusion and blinks up at Ilya. His face is so fucking trusting, so full of desire, it makes Ilya's heart race. It’s fucking terrifying.
Unable to hold Hollander’s gaze, Ilya leans in to claim a hungry, biting kiss. Hollander arches forward and moans as his erection brushes against the bulge in Ilya’s shorts, then grabs Ilya’s shoulders to pull him closer. His hands are trembling. He’s trembling for Ilya, clinging to him like he needs him, like he wants him for real, and not just for sex.
But, Ilya reminds himself, this is just sex. That’s all it can be: just scaldingly hot, clandestine sex with a side order of mutually assured destruction. He takes Hollander’s face in both hands, drawing him in to deepen the kiss.
An unexpected snow day with Hollanov, set roughly during the winter in late 2014 or early 2015, when things still feel new between them but they're starting to become a little more familiar.

Shane doesn’t do this.
He doesn’t go out alone on a Friday night. He doesn’t go to fucking gay clubs. He doesn’t go around telling people he wants to fuck men (or rather, for men to fuck him), and he especially doesn’t hook up with random strangers in dirty bathrooms.
…at least, he doesn’t do it often.
So when Shane spots Rozanov dancing in the middle of gay club in New York City, he thinks he must be hallucinating.

Summary
Shane could do this. He could go through the motions, greet people, and play at being a gracious host. He could pretend to be happy for a few hours, and then he could go to bed and curl up against Ilya and finally start to untangle the clusterfuck of feelings in his chest.
It wasn’t like today had gone badly. Quite the opposite, actually. No one had died, or even gotten injured. The kids all took to their groups nicely, and Shane’s confidence in his own coaching ability had stabilized by the afternoon. Ilya was a fucking incredible to watch, and the kids loved Ryan and Wyatt.
None of that was the issue. The issue was Scott fucking Hunter’s perfect fucking speech.

"You could stay with me until you get better," Shane says so quickly that Ilya doesn't understand at first. He has to close his eyes for a second and give the words time to make sense.
"I had injuries before," he starts. Shane nods. "I was alone, too."
The pained expression on Shane's face makes him bristle. He knows what this is, and he won't accept it.
"I know–"
"I am fine on my own," Ilya says firmly. He hopes that settles it, but then he can see the cogs turning in Shane's head.
"I know you are. Just– You don't have to. Be on your own."
OR: Instead of Shane, it's Ilya who gets the fractured collarbone and concussion. Also, Ilya is a terrible patient.
