Post Majora's Mask, Link struggles with the aftereffects of his his adventures (read: trauma) as he searches for something to anchor himself to and peace enough to settle down.

You don’t know how long you were gone.
It was three days, and three days, and three more, on and on and on again because what circle ends? Same days, different details, same faces, different actions, all over again and again and how many was it now? How long has it truly been? You lost count a long time ago.
It doesn’t matter; you made it out, hip heavy with masks and time marching on, and everything is linear. Everyone is alive, there is no more existential danger, no one is hurt or suffering or looping…and the sun is bright with summer.
And you find yourself simply existing.
You’re there but the Lost Forest doesn’t call you kin. You’re there but the Castle is too full of people and noise and…you can’t bear to look Zelda in the eyes too often. You’re there but the road feels hollow as it used to. There’s too many places to be, too many footprints left by a you that doesn’t exist anymore, too many knowns and unknowns that you just simply exist.

Summary
Normally I do not pay attention to farfetched rumors, particularly ones about a giant wolf spotted lurking in alleyways, but I think I have no choice but to believe this one. Some would say I am imagining this, or somehow hallucinating, but I know myself better than that. No, there really is a giant wolf in my window and he really is licking the glass, leaving large streaks of slobber in the wake of his thick, pink tongue.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.
