Summary
From an early age, Alhaitham's grandmother had taught him how to properly treat his own injuries. In general, she always encouraged Alhaitham to be independent, so it came about quite naturally that Alhaitham would simply attend to himself whenever he got hurt.
Alhaitham could easily take care of himself, so why was Kaveh bothering? The situation was so bizarre that it didn't even occur to Alhaitham to resist. He only silently watched his senior work, fascinated.

Al-Haitham hums, sitting back in his seat. His eyes get that look they always do when he's thinking– at least that had stayed the same– before he put his hands in his pockets.
“You can stay with me, if you'd like,” he says all too casually as he pulls a hand back out his pocket. “For the time being,” he adds on a little too quickly, “until you manage to get yourself out of the mess you’ve made.”
Kaveh was about to open his mouth to protest. Like he'd ever take an offer from him, especially with that attitude.
But then Al-Haitham slides a key across the table to him–golden, with emerald embellishments, a carbon copy of the soulmark on Kaveh's arm– and the words on his lips dissipate into the warm tavern air.

The thing is, while they were hiding the whole demon-collusion thing, Shang Qinghua’s house was constantly barred by wards. Mobei Jun could spend uninterrupted hours napping, laying around until Shang Qinghua was free enough to come back and help. Now, with the Sect so busy and all secrets completely gone, Peak Lords just fucking… barge in now! Even when Shang Qinghua isn’t there!
