    Petulantly, he rests his back against the windowsill, glancing once more over his shoulder at the windows, as though he might actually see something this time around.

    It’s only their reflection mirrored back at him, bright and stark against the glass in comparison to the darkness lying beyond, making him feel like the main character in a horror movie.
    Double double, toil and trouble, something wicked this way comes, and whatever.

    Pursing his lips, Shen Yuan sips his tea, aggrieved that it’s both a little oversteeped and now vaguely lukewarm. There’s the soft constant dripdripdrip of a leak in the background, combined with the gentle pattering of rain against windows, roof, and porch.
    There’s the softest sound of wind skittering through the rain beyond the windows, tickling the trees that grow over and around this house like a waiting creature’s maw, anxious for the perfect time to strike.

    Contemplative, he can only sigh.
    This whole Forks move was only for his own good, after everything.
    Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as he thinks.

    Shen Qingqiu meets a strange man on a mission. The man is calm, weirdly friendly, and single handedly gets them out of being kidnapped with absolutely no cultivation. Obviously, Shen Qingqiu needs to investigate this guy and see what’s up with him. He’s way too suspicious!

     

    Shen Yuan doesn’t think anything about when he got kidnapped but luckily had read up on the beast that got him. He meets a stupidly pretty boy—curse book characters born unfairly hot!—and continues to see him.

    Nothing can go wrong, right?

    Opening his eyes, Mu Yuan finds the disciple giving him a glare that’s a lot less glare-y. “That depends,” he says mildly. Then he smiles. “If you feel better or not.” He keeps his palm in the center of the man’s chest.

    Green eyes meet his own for a few really long seconds. Then the man inhales deeply and circulates his qi. His pretty green eyes widen and his lips part with surprise. “What did you do?”

    Mu Yuan grins. “Better, right? Ha! I knew it!.” He removes his hand and rocks back on his heels feeling entirely too pleased with himself.

    The Qing Jing peak disciple gets a complicated look on his face. “It’s…” Finally he adds grudgingly, “Better.”

    Mu Yuan keeps smiling. “You didn’t think I could help you, did you?”

    That earns him a fresh scowl. “Who exactly do you think you’re talking to?”

    Oh, is he one of THOSE? Mu Yuan thinks. He rolls his eyes. “Yeah, you’re very scary and intimidating, I get it.” He leans in and says softly, “But I’m glad you feel better.”
