“No, no I’m fine, shit-hole’s just ancient. It takes a while sometimes.”
“Trinity, I don’t mind helping, and if you need help, I’m willing to offer some.” Fuck, why was she so kind and earnest?! Trinity couldn’t handle it, not the earnestness of every sentence she spoke. The kindness of her voice each time she said anything. The worry on her face whenever she interacted with a patient. And, fuck, why’d she say her name like that everytime too!
Trinity couldn’t help but oblige, drawn to doing whatever Baran asked, especially when her attending was looking at her like that, with careful compassion deep in her eyes. “Fuck it, yeah, I could use a hand.”
“Alright,” Baran had a coy smirk on her face, “do you want a lift?”
“What?!” Trinity was shocked to say the least, nope she wasn’t getting a lift from her hot as fuck boss, nope nope, nope “Yeah, fucking hell, sure why not.”

After being ditched on the Fourth of July, Trinity Santos copes the only reasonable way; rage-singing at karaoke with Mel King and pretending she’s fine about the whole “keeping it casual” thing with Yolanda Garcia.
Then Garcia texts, offering a ride. Acts normal, while very clearly not being normal at all.
Cue one tense car ride, several pointed observations, and the long-overdue death of “casual.”
