Summary
After making their tactical retreat from the Spire, Black Sapphire Cookie, Candy Apple Cookie, and Shadow Milk Cookie decide to lay low in the Crème Republic. There, Black Sapphire Cookie gets a cover job working for the fallen noblewoman, Light Cream Cookie; conveniently learning she’s the mother of the powerful Clotted Cream Cookie.
Once Black Sapphire makes this tidbit public, however, Light Cream Cookie goes missing, clearly due to foul play. Black Sapphire and Clotted Cream enter a mutually beneficial partnership to save Light Cream, restoring Shadow Milk to his former glory in exchange.
But the longer they work together, they not only become further entangled in the rotten core of the Republic, but with each other as well. Black Sapphire must ultimately make a choice between the familiarity of deceit under his master, or becoming the bringer of justice alongside his new "ally".

There was so much he hadn’t told Trey, so much he’d kept to himself. And despite how often Jade used such a tactic, deception was not something he wished to use on Trey; the human didn’t deserve a partner who only knew how to lie, after all, even if he wanted Jade the same way Jade wanted him.
A part of him wished Trey would understand. Trey, who had been the only one to stay and listen to Jade’s rants, Trey, who still treated him like any other person, despite all the rumors around him—that same Trey, perhaps, would continue to stay if Jade told him now, would continue to kiss Jade until all the worries of his mind disappeared.
But Trey was still human, and their relationship was merely surface-level.

Summary
Childe never really thought too much about his soul mark, not after the abyss. He had made peace with the fact he could never be with them after being tainted. But after a mission gone wrong the mark is unintentionally revealed to his Archon. Forced to fulfil a millennia old contract between gods she has to hand Childe over to the Geo Archon.
Childe now has to navigate an unfamiliar culture while trying to please his new husband and his family, as well as prove his continued loyalty to the Tsaritsa. Balancing on that tight rope will prove difficult as both sides fight to pull him down. The abyss is certainly ready to catch him as he falls.
