“Sorry,” a thin voice whispered into her abdomen.
Lauma felt her heart shatter right in her chest at Aino’s tone and wrapped her long arms around her head to cradle it gently, “Oh, mieloji, it’s alright. Don’t worry about it.”
With the young girl still clutched in her arms, Lauma slowly repositioned them until her back was against the wall, and Aino was tucked underneath her chin like a mother would hold her own daughter. She still shook with the force of her crying, although she remained entirely silent as if she was used to suppressing the childish emotions bubbling through her, a thought that filled her with sympathy.

Summary
Whatever existed between Chuuya and Dazai—whether it was love, or hate, or something else entirely—died in the dark of the mafia. It was left behind to wilt and rot, and now, there’s nothing left. Chuuya might have loved Dazai once, but those days have long since passed, and they know Burnett’s ability didn’t latch on to any sort of lingering affection there.
Besides, if Dazai were the subject, Chuuya’s feelings wouldn’t be unresolved or unstated anyway. Dazai knows exactly how Chuuya felt; he just wasn’t capable of feeling the same.
Which leads to the real problem—
The guy Chuuya actually needs to confess to can’t fucking reciprocate their feelings either.
chuuya gets hit with an ability that gives them hanahaki. this might be easier to deal with if it didn't require confessing to someone who: 1. will know what's up as soon as he looks at them, and 2. cannot love them back
