“You would be fine.” She responded.

“Boo, you’re no fun, Melissa.” He pulled the end of her braid.
“I’m trying to make sure you’ll make it to your thirties, Francis.”
“Oh, c’mon, Melly Belly.” He tilted his head to the side, that stupid James Dean smile on his face. “You and I both know I’m not making to my thirties.”

“You kiss our kids with that mouth?” he said teasingly.
“My kids.” She mutters through gritted teeth.
He turns slightly towards her, a shit eating grin and leans in. “Our kids, Dr. King.” He whispers in her ear. “You didn’t make ‘em all by yourself. And believe me, I remember those nights way too well.”

Summary
"Try here," he directs. Her hand caresses his nape before her fingers find his carotid. She bites her lip.
"Hey," she murmurs. "You're a bit tachy, yourself. But you haven't had very much." She motions to his deserted beer.
His eyes drop to her lips and he swallows. "Probably something else, then. Maybe you need a new differential diagnosis."
Her face heats and a strange warmth pools in her gut. This is dangerous. She needs to move back. She can stop things before they get weird. Before she makes them weird. She removes her hand from his neck. Her fingers tip toe their way up Frank's tie and hesitantly land on his chin. She traces her pinky along his lower lip. She tracks its movement, catching the bob of his Adam's apple in her periphery.

And still, he can’t look away.
He only sees her. The way she loved. The way she existed in that moment, preserved in careful brushstrokes and memory.
Frank Langdon is eighteen years old. And two thousand. Both at once, young and ancient, caught in a war inside himself that can only agree on one thing: He misses her. He misses his soulmate.
Or,
