Summary
Jason clamps down on the panic bubbling at the base of his sternum with a practiced hand and exhales all of his air, intending to settle into a meditative breathing pattern that should help him focus more on his other senses, except-
His breath comes out hot and humid, clouding the space around his mouth and nose and reflecting back on his cheeks, causing his skin to prickle uncomfortably. And when he inhales, it doesn’t quite fill his lungs, the air stale and wet.
It’s recycled air.
Jason involuntarily jerks in place, wobbling back a step.
He counts down five minutes in his head before he starts trying to break himself out – clings to the meager hope of rescue for those 300 agonizing, too-still seconds as he does his best to breathe shallowly and calmly to preserve his air supply. In the end, all it does is make him weaker, make the digging take longer.
Jason’s heart thunders in his chest. Dirt dribbles down onto his face.
OR: When an EMP goes off and Jason's powered-down helmet gets stuck on his head, he realizes a fatal flaw in his design - there's no way for him to breathe inside the helmet without power. Dick and Tim have to resort to desperate measures to save his life.

A careless compliment, and Jason’s worst nightmare. Haunted by a face that isn’t his and a body that never feels right, he spirals through memory, guilt, and the ghost of who he used to be. Yet while he can’t outrun the mirror or the man staring back, there’s still a fragile truth in the wreckage: maybe he’s still worth saving.

Summary
“Death doesn’t happen to you.” Jason finally says. “It happens to those you leave behind.”
Dick’s breath hitches in his throat. His tears are flowing down his face once again. He falls to his knees, burying his face in his hands, his previous stoic facade forgotten. If only Jason would stop talking. He does not want to hear.
“When I died” Jason starts. “You and Bruce and Alfred and every other person who cared for me even if only for a second, were left to pick up the pieces.”
Dick feels Jason kneeling beside him, he likes to imagine that if he could, he would have touched him, would have cradled his face and wiped away his tears.
“A part of us always lives inside the minds and the souls of the people around us, and when we die, we are unable to take that part with us. It does not belong to us, it never did.” Jason’s voice sounds smooth and resigned, wise in a way he had never heard it before.
He doesn’t dare lift his head to look at his brother, he doesn’t think he could bear it.
Weeks after Jason's death and while Christmas is approaching, Dick decides he cannot endure life any longer. Jason visits his older brother, but it is Bruce who eventually finds him.

Summary
Jason needed to skate as desperately as he needed to eat or drink or breathe. This wasn’t a sport where you could afford to stop or fall behind. He was not about to let something as stupid as a pair of broken skates stop him from achieving his dreams.
He needed money and he needed it fast.
The gleaming black car left parked in Crime Alley might just be the answer to all his prayers.
