He’s heard the rumours. Flowers. Hundreds of them. A field of chrysanthemums, patches of gold scattered across sheets of unforgiving ice.
Flowers in the middle of winter? He can almost imagine the fragile stems snapping under the harsh howls of frosty winter winds. Absolutely ridiculous, a complete waste of resources. What kind of person would even bother with such a fruitless endeavour?
It’s not until much later, after this mysterious man fills his days with stories and laughter, coaxes sparks of gold from his fingertips, entices Wangji out to explore the world beyond the microcosm within these frozen walls… that he realises, "it’s him."
Or; Wangji exists. Wei Wuxian remembers. Over the winter, flowers bloom.

“Yes,” Carlos repeats, and then frowns. “Do you think–” His voice hardens just the slightest bit, leaning into… something that Charles can’t really place. “I didn’t make you do it.”
Charles shifts away from him, staring at the other wall instead. “Of course. But anyway, I don’t know. I don’t remember it anyway.”
