Summary

Three years after, Ilya is traded to the Ottawa Centaurs after causing a scandal, and two years after that, Shane is also traded, though —very differently than Ilya— no one knows why.

Summary
Ethan finally turned away from the game and made his way over to Shane to press up against his back as Shane slipped his shoes on. Shane turned in his arms to kiss Ethan, but as he brought his face closer, Ethan laughed and pulled back to look at him.
“Wait, you’re not really gonna wear those ugly reading glasses to dinner, are you?”
Shane’s face flushed as he reached up and took his glasses off before setting them on the side table next to the door. A loud noise startled him and he looked over to see that Ilya had tossed his game controller onto the coffee table haphazardly. He stood up abruptly, nostrils flared and mouth pinched into a tight line as he stalked off to his bedroom, muttering something in Russian along the way.

Summary
Scott watched as Hollander leaned in, further, to hear Rozanov. This was the part that didn’t entirely make sense to him. The missing piece of something that felt like it was just beyond his reach. This was quiet ease and small moments of comfort and a look that makes the rest of the world fade away. This was how he felt with Kip.
Scott stilled.
It was as if someone had whispered it in his ear. It was as if the final piece of this insane, deranged puzzle finally clicked into place. His heart was pounding in his ears. He was probably wrong. In fact he was entirely wrong. This wasn’t like him and Kip. It couldn’t be Kip. Scott had been watching too many romantic comedies. His head was in the clouds.
But they weren’t touching.
Hollander and Rozanov were as close as they could be, without laying a single finger on one another. They were specifically, rigidly, separate. The warmth between them was bridled. Entirely. And this, Scott realized, his heart sinking into the floor, was also how he had felt with Kip.

Wouldn’t it be heartbreaking if, after Ilya casually suggests Shane could sleep with other people when they’re apart, Shane takes it completely the wrong way? He becomes deeply insecure, convincing himself it means he isn’t performing well enough in the bedroom. Desperate to fix it, he starts googling ways to be better in bed, trying things he never would have considered before, all in a frantic attempt to keep Ilya satisfied.
Or: After Ilya tells Shane he could sleep with other people, Shane tries to change himself so that Ilya wouldn’t want to look elsewhere.
