“I think you and I would be good together.”
The words hang in the air between them, Akechi’s brow rising in open skepticism as one of the most tense and awkward silences Akira has ever experienced descends. He sends a silent prayer to whatever gods are up there to please open a sudden hole in the ground that he can fall through. He doesn’t even care where it leads, anywhere has to be better than here.
“Charming,” Akechi says finally, in a way that makes it clear he didn’t find it very charming at all. “Although, I’m afraid I’m not interested in dating.”

That’s certainly news to Akira. There’s something heavy in the way Goro says it, the words weighted with some meaning that Akira can’t even begin to understand.
“It never seems to bother you when I touch it.”

Goro doesn’t even get a chance to complain before Kurusu is sliding an arm around his back and beneath his knees. He’s immediately greeted by a wave of pain that outclasses all the others before, a kind of pain that makes him feel as if his entire body is breaking in two. Makes him think: fuck, maybe it actually is.
He grits his teeth. “Joker, stop.”
Kurusu instantly freezes, meeting his eyes with clear alarm.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think my hip might be broken.”

Summary
When Akira reaches the bottom step, there’s another series of knocks, harsher and a bit more agitated this time. Maybe he should be slightly concerned, but unless the person behind the door happens to be Maruki with another world-destroying revelation he forgot to mention, he really doesn’t care who it is.
Or well, that’s what he thinks, at least until Akira opens the door and his heart stops beating.
“Akechi,” he says weakly. “You came back.”
