Summary
The threat of the cult of the Absolute has caused the heavens and the Hells to become concerned about the potential loss of hundreds of thousands of souls that give the gods and the Archdevils their powers. While the gods are forbidden from interfering by Ao, the Hells are under no such limitations, and several prominent agents of the Hells have been sent to “help” Tav and her companions fight the Absolute. The Hells seem to be intent on wreaking havoc on the Material Plane, leaving Tav to clean up their messes and stop all Nine Hells from breaking loose.
Meanwhile, Tav meets a mysterious nobleman on the nautiloid named Raphael who is incredibly irritated that he ended up tadpoled and traveling with morons. When he appears to know more about the happenings in Faerun than he should, Tav quickly suspects that he’s far more than what he appears to be.
It’s going to take an incredible amount of patience and ingenuity for Tav to both defeat the Elderbrain and stop the Hells from fucking everything up.

Summary
After the fall of the Netherbrain, Tav had enough adventure for one lifetime and wanted to finish writing her memoir and retire in peace. After her musical troupe was attacked en route to Athkatla, Tav finds herself sold into slavery and purchased by Mammon, the Lord of Minauros. While brokering deals with devils to secure her freedom, Tav ends up on the wrong side of a political scheme that threatens to tear the Third Hell apart. She needs to beat the devils at their own cruel games to ensure her survival before the greed of the Endless Bog swallows her whole.
Mephistopheles hated mortals. They were pawns. Currency. Pathetic. Upon a diplomatic visit to the Third Hell, the Lord of the Eighth discovered something that he had been searching for for centuries. Mammon has his filthy claws on the one thing he wants, and he will do anything to get her back. Once she is in his clutches, he is never, ever going to let her go.
