“We have a latecomer,” Elrond announced lightly enough. “The heir to Steward Denethor of Gondor.”
Boromir's lifeless eyes looked a thousand miles away. His armor, engraved with the White Tree, was scuffed and battered, his royal cloak torn and burned at the edges. A deep, jagged slash ran over the bridge of his nose, glistening with blood.
The Council, which had gained a base level of volume from quiet discussions, fell into a sharp silence. The heir to the Steward of Gondor pulled himself to his feet, the simple action looking like it took all his remaining willpower.
“What news of Gondor?” Elrond prompted, though his eyes carried unfathomable age.
There was a heavy pause. “Gondor—” His voice was hoarse and cracked harshly, as though even speaking the words was a painful act. “Gondor has fallen.”

Mordor makes a risky gamble in their military advancements and it pays off. Gondor falls, and all hope in Arda falls with it. With the greatest defenses now lost, the time now goes to the lesser legends, the most Golden Alliances, and a Fellowship that is much the same.
Here is a world that is infinitely darker that the original, but hope lives nonetheless.

Hae-Young is slammed into a cold, sterile wall, and the man who has his arm at Hae-Young’s neck is Lee Jae-Han himself, so angry he’s shaking with it.
“One thing you will never understand,” The voice is as familiar as it always was, only this time without the accompanying crackle. “Talking to the one man who can fix everything you couldn't — and they don’t know you.”
Hae-Young cannot breathe.

Except he knew where that path lead.
And if he ever wanted to help the Boy Who Lived With Terrible Memories, he should probably start heading down a different one.

Obviously it wasn’t bad enough that Aaron is stuck making bizarrely complicated coffee for irritable undergrads at 6:30 AM instead of working with his mom at the White House. No, now he gets to watch as Alexander repeatedly screws his own chances at so-called “true love” by staring starstruck and tongue-tied at John all day like a creep and then not responding when John actually starts up a conversation. A less disciplined man than Aaron would have been sent screaming out of the café from sheer frustration by now.
