Summary
"You dropped this," Jimin said, a little breathless from his dash to catch up to Yoongi. "It fell off when Kyungsu-ssi pushed you." He thrust something towards him, and Yoongi automatically reached for it. When he realized what it was, his blood froze.
It was his beanie.
Which meant that his cat ears were perfectly on display.
Which meant Jimin saw them.
Which meant Jimin knew.
His hands clenched around the beanie, his boney knuckles turned white. Now that he was paying attention, the wind whistling in the ears atop his head was obvious. He fought very hard to keep them still, hoping the lack of movement would bring less attention to them. It was a pointless effort of course. The damage had already been done.
Jimin's eyes flicked up towards the top of Yoongi's head—the final nail in the coffin.
Images flashed through Yoongi's head. A kind smile straining, hiding a throbbing pain. A happy mask over eyes of sorrow. Raised voices, grabbing, pulling. Flashes of light and hateful glares.
"Gotta go." Yoongi barely managed to choke out the words, panic closing his throat, before he turned tail and ran, ignoring Jimin's concerned shouts behind him.
