Children of the twilight

Summary:

"Darling. What are you doing here?"
Slowly, Astarion sat down next to Staeve on a small hill. There eyes glanced into the distance.

Notes:

I'm giving the two boys and myself a breather from the other story.
Switch off for a moment, no blood and then it's on to part 3.

As always, Staeve is not my handsome man. He belongs to MAV/Velnna
.
Thank you for letting us all hijack your Schöniling for text and pictures.

Work Text:

"Darling. What are you doing here?"
Slowly, Astarion sat down next to Staeve on a small hill. There eyes glanced into the distance.

"I'm watching the clouds." Staeve immediately leaned against him and sighed with pleasure.
"It's going to rain back there soon. With the sun behind us, I'm hoping for a rainbow."
"I see." Mumbled Astarion. He looked behind him, but the shadows had already grown longer. Evening was approaching. There would be no more direct sun here where they were sitting today.
Then he snuggled close to him again and put an arm around him.

"How long have you been sitting here?"
"A few hours. I haven't quite got your rhythm in yet. The day is still calling to me." There was the same smile on Staeve's lips that could be heard in his voice.
Astarion laughed softly.
"Three months and you're still a child of the sun with every one of your freckles."

"Look. A rainbow."
"Hm." Astarion hummed softly and watched as the colors intensified before fading and disappearing again.

The wind picked up and the first drops began to fall. The rain had reached them.

"Let's go inside. We'll get wet and you'll get sick again."
Now Staeve laughed softly.
He turned his eyes away from the sky at Astarion's words. Slightly he turned towards him and took his face gently in both hands before kissing him deeply and lovingly.

"Three months and you still haven't internalized the fact that I won't get sick anymore."
He gently bit the elf on the lip. Let one of his fangs scrape over the thin skin. There was a happy twinkle in the Drow's red eyes. His lips pulled into an amused grin.

He gently pushed Astarion down into the wet grass. It was raining so much by now that the world was shrouded in a rustle of leaves and water.

"You did bite me, my love." The Drow murmured. "Enjoyed my blood..." He kissed him gently again.
Astarion put one arm around him, buried his other hand gently in Staeve's wet hair, returned the kiss. In love, he widened his gaze at the Drow.

"And I was allowed to savor your blood." Staeve finished his sentence as he let go of the elf's pale lips. There was a soft purr in his voice.
"Let's go inside. I want to snuggle up to you in the warmth."
"I'd love to." Astarion whispered to him.

Staeve smiled and stood up, offering the elf a hand to help him up. Then he snuggled up to him again.
They walked to the house together.

"I received a letter from Gale today. They have one ring. And they know where a second one is. I don't have to become a child of the night anymore. Soon we'll be traveling together again and turning the world upside down."

"How long did it take you to read the letter yourself?"
"Hours. While you were still asleep. Gale specifically didn't use cursive writing."

Astarion laughs softly.
"You're a lost cause."
"I know. That's why you love me."
"Among other things, my love."
