He pulled his arms close to his legs and buried his face in his knees. Now he had finally found a small, narrow alley in which he was well hidden. Dirty, but dark and safe.
Astarion bit his lip to hold back welling tears. Him and his flippant mouth. Imprudent, provocative… jaundiced.It was a matter of time before he caused trouble again.
Why hadn't he just waited?

Frustrated he bit into his pillow and growled into it. He finally wanted to have him here. Just getting some rest wasn't an option he accepted.
He could hear quiet voices outside. Now finally his loved one would come to him.
Shortly afterwards the tent was opened quietly and slowly. Astarion entered and closed it again just as quietly. Only then did his eyes fall on the drow, who looked up at him slightly.
“Is something wrong, darling?” He asked quietly and turned fully to him. He watched Staeve with a slightly amused smile on his lips.

There were muffled screams murmurs and pleas that woke Staeve up in the middle of the night.
He looked around and saw Astarion.
The vampire was lying further away from him than usual. He had his arms wrapped tightly around himself and was curled up as much as possible. Trembling all over.
Quiet whimpers and moans kept coming from his lips. Sounds of pain and torment. Another muffled cry. Pleading. Begging.....

The drow stood at a distance and watched him. Watched as the rising sun made the white hair shine coppery.
Everything was bathed in this reddish light. The morning was still quiet. Nothing distracted from the play of colors.
Little by little the color changed from copper to gold. The gradient shimmered on the motionless figure and continued to fade....
