Richie ran, the taunting laugh of Max echoing behind him. He just had to keep moving, keep running away. From the laughing coming from Max’s… ghost? Poltergeist? Spirit?
Richie slammed into a wall, knocking the breath right out of his lungs. They were seizing again. No, he couldn’t let whatever Max had become catch up. Everyone always kept moving, always pulled through. Richie could too! He knew he could. He just had to keep going until that last-minute miracle appeared. He just had to…
This time a hand, suddenly solid, knocked him right to the ground. Max had found him.
